This cafe has arguably one of the best cafe locations in Sydney. Jutting out over the Bondi Beach pool, the little balcony takes in the panorama of Bondi Beach, the two Bondi pools and the svelte silhouettes of the Icebergs Club's finest members.
Desk top tables hang from rails beneath arching canvas umbrellas and little red stools gather on the cement balcony. A maximum of twenty people could fit out here (even that would be a squeeze), which makes snagging a table seem like a 'special people' privilege.
Their tiny shop has a little fridge of Emma & Toms juices, Phoenix organic soft drinks, Chariles Honest Quenchers and Nutrient Water, and with beans supplied by The Little Marionette, this is one of the better coffees you will get in Bondi.
There is a distinct resort life vibe on the deck of The Crabbe Hole. It would be easy to imagine you've popped down to your resort cafe for breakfast and a protein shake (yes it's on the menu) before dipping into the pool, popping next door to the gym, following on in the neighouring sauna and finishing with a massage before migrating to the sandy shore of Bondi.
I like the Crabba Hole. It feels like a bit of a secret. Accessed through the turnstyle for the pool, you simply drop the password ("I'm going to the crabbe hole") in a hushed voice then make your way along the railed ledge to the hideout shop. Their menu is extremely tiny, but it's got a few nice sandwiches at decent prices and you don't get the impression that you're paying for this stellar location. Also, as I was waiting for my friends beside the pool, I saw a man scuttling a hand-sized crab from his pool-side lounge chair. This made me happy. read more
