I don't think I can go anywhere else or settle for beauty school jobs for my hair after experiencing the level of care, passion for the trade, patience and customer service that I experienced here. I was offered tea whenever I was waiting for my hair to process. I was meticulously consulted about what I wanted for my hair to make sure I walked out feeling my best. I had a stye developing on my eye and the owner, Dana, got me a soaked teabag to use as a warm compress for it while my hair was being dyed. I made an appointment for a cut since my ends were split and damaged from lightening from a dark black-brown. I am super indecisive and my anxiety worsens it. Ashley was able to suss out what I wanted out of my cut. She took off the fried ends then cut and shaped my ends in a way that totally works for my face. Then she blowdried it like a boss! Amazing!!! I was touching my hair way too much after walking out of there because the cut looked and felt great.
I've gone from almost every colour of the rainbow in all sorts of combinations, but never pink or peach. At the end of my appointment with Ashley, I did a colour consultation with her to talk about the full dusty rose colour that I wanted and we figured out that I wanted shadow roots. Seriously, she was SO good at helping me figure out what I really wanted to get done. The soonest I was available to get my hair lightened and dyed was 4 days later on an evening that Ashley wasn't available, but Martina was so I booked my service with her for that night.
I got to that appointment thinking I was ten minutes late, but I was early. Dana, told me how Martina was just finishing up on the last client so she offered me a cup of tea and even waited for the water to cool down so I wouldn't burn myself when I tried to drink it. While I waited, Dana started mixing the colours and showing me different pinks until we found the colours I wanted. She was so patient and attentive with my pickiness--I could really tell that she wanted me to walk out with hair that I loved.
Once Martina finished up (it wasn't a long wait) and I went over to her chair. She and Dana worked together on applying the bleach to my hair. They used 2 different strengths to get even lightening and were super careful about keeping bleach off my ends. They achieved a ridiculous amount of lift (especially since the virgin hair I had was black) and I got the shadow root that I wanted too. Once my hair was washed and dried, Martina began applying the 3 pinks I had chosen to get a multitonal, dusty pink. Dana stepped in to assist and we had such great conversation. Once they finished up, Dana washed out the colour and we were all super excited to see my hair after it was dried.
The bleached sections just before the shadow roots were a little yellowish so the pink showed up as a peach and it seemed to graduate into a beautiful mix of 3 dusty pinks at my ends. It looked so cool, like a beachy sunset! It got pinker in the morning and was a cool gradient. Still, it was not the dusty pink I was looking for. Dana immediately offered to go pick up some pinker dye in the morning and that I could book another appointment to tackle that peachiness at no extra charge. I went in for that the day after, which was today.
I went back for that the day right after, which was today. They were great again. We didn't get it as pink as I hoped the first time that second appointment, but we repeated a step to intensify the colour and I finally had my dusty pink. The entire time I was pampered and had a wonderful conversation yet again with Dana and Martina. read more
