the complex itself seems great - more so looking to make a comment about the show I just experienced in particular today. Mac miller tribute show. Spent over 100 dollars to go and witness just a bunch of dudes get on stage and exploit Macs name (is what it felt like) to put their own name out there. We assumed it would be a dj playing his songs, hearing his voice, and just jamming, and instead we get a bunch of people doing covers that they kept messing up lyrics to. We showed up half an hour late and it kept going, but still pretty early on the show was overpacked with people trying to watch from the hall, and it was like 1-200 people all left at once (along with us) the more they kept doing their own faulty covers and acting like it was personally their show and own songs. Was weird a big enough venue enabled this headline with this kind of performance. Makes me weary of the music scene around here or attending this venue again. Would be different if 20-30 bucks for their own show and songs, even if unheard and local. Was all just super corny. Several people around me agreed heavily. Even with a few 14 dollar beers, the drinks weren't enough to let go of how crappy it all was. read more

The venue is approx. a 15-min walk from where I live, so I don't have to worry about the transportation logistics. Otherwise, I'd just take a Lyft/Uber. The process to get inside has been a breeze for me with no issues--from security to ticket check. Hardly had to stand in line for the restrooms, which is super convenient. Place is spacious and quite clean, so no major complaints. Heads up, for mixed cocktails/hard liquor, you'll need a wristband to enter a separate room; and will need to finish the drink before leaving the area. So, you can't take it with you if the artist is playing in the main stage/area unless you buy beer at the main entrance bar. Be prepared to feel warm/hot inside the venue as the place doesn't have any A/C. I had to step outside to the smoking area to get some fresh air and to cool down, but that didn't stop me from dancing and having a good time. Regarding the sound, I had a different experience each time; and it was setup differently. read more

We went for Ella Langley's concert at The Lot. She was amazing, but the venue wasn't my favorite. I wish they had more bathrooms. Even some port a potty's would have been better. The food was not great, but we still had fun because we went for the music. The people that worked there were all really nice though. The location was awesome. We walked from, The courtyard Marriott and it was a pretty lit up, safe walk. So my opinion is they need to figure out the bathroom situation, if they have big concerts again. read more

If you have a disability or need ADA seating don't bother with this venue. My husband is on oxygen and his mobility is limited requiring him to use his wheelchair at events. We got to the concert late, on purpose, to avoid lines and large crowds also because he has only a few hours of battery life on his oxygen machine. I had called the venue months in advance to ask about purchasing ADA seating tickets. I was told that we don't need ADA seating tickets that we will be accommodated upon arrival. When we got to the concert we were told to go up the ramp to the front so we did. I was then told by a staff lady that ADA section was full to go all the way back (pointing towards the large crowds of smokers in the back) and that's where we would be seated. I got upset. I ended up wheeling my husband back down the ramp in tears to then be approached by another staff member (with sympathy). They did accommodate us at this point as much as they could. I don't understand how an outdoor area can be hot boxed with smoke but it was. My husband lasted about 45 minutes before exasperation from second hand smoke inhalation . We left. As far as the supervisor he was super nice, and lot of the staff was also super nice and even the lady who was at first very rude was super nice when she apologized later on. Ultimately they don't follow the ADA regulations and it's super dangerous to risk going there ever again after tonight. We had to leave early because my husband couldn't breathe. They set us next to the smokers section then again I'm not really so sure if it was only one section it was the whole lot smoking. It was like going to an opium den or drum circle. The people who were in ADA section, there was dogs and children and able bodied adults and it was crammed full. Later when the lady was forced to apologize to us told me the reason she didn't want to accommodate us was because there was a dog who was jumping on everyone and that's why she didn't want to seat my husband in ADA... ADA is important for those of us who truly need it. It's against the law and morally wrong to allow people on both sides to abuse it as some kind of vip pass to the front row. My husband was the only one on oxygen or limited to a wheelchair yet we were turned away, I was told to go in the crowd and separate from my husband which was crazy of her to suggest. I told them I was ok and that I didn't want to write a complaint but I owe it to people who are looking forward to a concert at this venue who are truly disabled to just not risk it at this venue. They weren't nice, they were acting like they were trying to be nice, but it was very unkind to do what they did. We will avoid this venue like the plague. Delta center is wonderful we will continue to go there in the future. read more

While I REALY don't prefer standing room only venues, for what this is, it's a pretty decent place. Smaller, more intimate concerts are held here and I guess the lack of seating does increase the camaraderie when you're standing shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of other fans enjoying the performance together. The venue is older and a little quirky, but that fits the charm. If you are lucky enough to get a parking spot right out front, you won't have far to walk. Otherwise, the Gateway is only a block or so away. The staff takes safety and security very seriously-no outside food or drink or weapons and everyone is scanned with a handheld metal detector. I saw a sign for a coat check, but didn't use it. Since there's nowhere really to stash your stuff, I'd recommend coming with minimal personal items. The next time one of my favorite indie bands or up-and-coming artists is playing here, I'll probably be there. Wearing comfortable shoes and pants with pockets for all my crap. read more

Do not go to a show at "The Lot". It's literally just a parking lot, which slopes down from the stage. Unless you're up front, or ten feet tall, you won't see anything but the back of somebody's head while you choke on all the vape smoke. You can literally just watch the show from the street, and avoid the ticket price and being felt up by rent-a-cops. read more

Overall, I've only had good experiences at the Complex. Parking isn't amazing but I've never had to walk more than a few blocks. Security has always been nice and helpful. I don't go to enough concerts to really benefit from their frequent concert-goer pass thing, but it's cool that they have it for the hardcore music fans. The area people line up in is in the shade, which is amazing. The bathrooms aren't bad, I've been to some terrible concert venue bathrooms and these are pretty good. They have indoor and outdoor options for shows based on the weather or size of the show. Sucks hard to be in the apartment building next door though. What a terrible place to live haha. read more

Let me start that I have been to many concerts so this isn't a first timer not knowing what to expect. We arrived a half hour after the set time for the snow to start because we had to drive 5 hours to be here, we got in and found the openers still hadn't started and preceeded to wait another half hour before they allowed the first opener on stage, that's an hour after show start. Fine OK, maybe there were technical difficulties but man am I glad I didn't show up at doors open just to stand around and wait 2 hours. It's time for the second opener and we stand and wait for another 40 minutes listening to annoying music up full blast that was polar opposite of what we came there to see, all the folks that stood around drinking for 2 hours were getting drunk-angry about wait time and poor choice of set change music so just yelling about it. change took about 15-20 minutes so not sure what the hold up was other than an attempt to sell more, way over priced alcohol. Second band played and all the stage lights were focused on audience instead of the band, alot of folks in the crowd were useing their hats or hands to block the bright lights so they could try to see the band. The third set change for the headliner we waited an hour and ten minutes before we just decided it was safer to leave then wait longer to see the band we drove so far to see. The band hadnt even started and the drunks were already getting violent, pushing you out of the way far beyond the usual moving through the crowd and stumbling on you. We werent near the front, we werent near where the mosh pit would form. Long story short, if a band we want to see is coming here, i will just catch them in another state as this venue seems more concerned with alcohal sales then the music or their patrons safty. read more

We bought tickets to Boy With Uke in May, 4 months before the concert, which was tonight, Sep 27, 2023. My kids were very excited. We got ready and drove an hour to The Complex. We paid for parking then walked all the way around the block to get in line. We eventually made it to the entrance almost an hour later. We went through security and got to the entrance only to be turned away. A staff member told us the tickets we bought from Ticketmaster were "fake". My kids were disappointed, my husband was pissed, and I was in disbelief. There were many other people being turned away, all being told we bought fake tickets. Isn't Ticketmaster supposed to be a trusted source for tickets? How is a person supposed to prevent this? The staff member told me that The Complex's web site states they do not accept tickets from any resellers. Honestly, I didn't even know what that meant and had to research the term. I bought tickets directly from Ticketmaster using my online Ticketmaster account and I was never informed they were resale or fan to fan tickets and finally my credit card was charged by Ticketmaster itself. They are THE world's premier event ticket agency. If they sell the ticket, it's guaranteed... isn't it? Later, I looked at The Complex's web site. I would never have found the information if I wasn't specifically looking for it, as it's buried in their General Info page, near rules regarding coat checks and vaping. I plan to get to the bottom of this. Either Ticketmaster or The Complex screwed my family over, and I'm not going away quietly. read more

I was assaulted by a female security staff member at this venue on NYE. She put her hand inside of my bra as well as pulled it away from my body/shook it, nearly exposing me to others in line. This was after I had already given her my vape and had nothing else. She then raised her voice at me, telling me I was lucky she was giving me so many chances before letting me through. I am horrified by this experience as I have been to The Complex many times without issue. After sharing my story, I am equally horrified to discover that I am far from the only one who has experienced security at The Complex, crossing physical and legal boundaries. Ladies (and men as well), please be wary of attending events at this venue. While my experience is currently being investigated, others' experiences of reporting these instances have shown that The Complex has little regard for the safety and dignity of their patrons. Security is just that. Security. They NEVER have the right to put their hands under someone's undergarments. That is assault and that is illegal. I will never attend another event here, and I implore others to do the same until something changes. read more

Saw Motion City Soundtrack here on 7/16/22 and they were fantastic, but this is a review for the venue only. :) Getting in Get there early for better spot, but bring water & some type of shade. Before doors opened, they had us (people with tickets) waiting outside in direct sun in 100° F. No water was handed out, but a guy working at the venue was going around with a water gun playfully saying he'd shoot us. Security at entrance We were informed no pens are allowed. They had standard concert security entry otherwise. !! Front row The front row in front of stage has a bit of a platform, so the taller people in the front row were even more elevated and blocking view of anyone in rows behind them. Expect a restricted view because of this. Acoustics The venue itself did not seem optimally designed for acoustics. I just saw MCS perform in UC Theatre in Berkeley and the difference was noticeable though not the bands fault. Bathrooms Plenty of them. Food & drinks They had like a movie theater style (without popcorn) concession stand. Bottled water $4. Cell reception Internet continued to work during show. Merch Long comic con style line in a separate room which I avoided to get better spot at show. Parking Would recommend parking at The Gateway. If you're staying at a hotel nearby and considering walking over instead, know that you may encounter a few characters en route. Security during show An aggressive mosh pit happened throughout the show, pushing a number of non-consenting attendees on top of each other. I saw no effort from security (who could clearly see this happening) to encourage more gentle moshing. The event ran on time. read more

AVOID THIS PLACE - I've never been to a concert or show where the security guards have been so aggressive and rude to everyone. After witnessing going through the ID checkpoint and the security checkpoint before you, enter in the concert, every security guard besides, the one helping get everybody into the right line were extremely rude and demeaning to others. I'd rather go anywhere else than here. Security here ruined, both of my nights and my New Year's Eve. Learn how to treat people with respect. The security staff's unnecessary rudeness and aggressive demeanor have led us to decide against returning to your venue, despite our enjoyment of the shows. Additionally, our Uber driver, who was picking us up after the first night, faced unwarranted hostility from the security team. Despite being blocked by other vehicles, he was aggressively told to move, further illustrating the unnecessary harshness of the staff. I am writing this email in the hope that it will serve as a constructive reminder. A security team can be both effective and courteous, ensuring safety while also treating guests and service providers with respect. The current approach not only detracts from the overall experience but also discourages patrons like us from supporting your events in the future. Until your staff members learn to treat others with respect our group will no longer support your venue and I'll encourage others to follow. I love this venue for the large stage areas and access to outside. If I'm going to a concert I want to be able to dance my heart out and then step outside to cool off. The complex is perfect for loud music, epic light shows while also offering access to the cool night air to have a intimate conversation. read more

This is a great venue. They have some of the fastest security and ticket takers out of any concert place in salt lake. I attended vampire weekend tonight and had an amazing time. I do wish that they had emptied the garbage out prior to the concert because there was a continual stench throughout the concert area. Yuck! read more

Despite what might be going on in the news with this place, The Complex is one of my favorite music venues in Utah. There are two different rooms within the venue so that they can hold 2 different shows at the same time. The Grand is on the south side and is more intimate than the Rockwell. I like that there is access to a bar upstairs with a viewing section and barstools if you're lucky or get there early enough. The Rockwell has a bigger stage and can accommodate over 2000 people and there's also a bar and VIP area that's in an elevated section to the right of the stage. I recently came for the Seven Lions show and the setup was absolutely amazing. The lights and visuals were so beautiful! It was also almost at capacity, but there are a ton of fans so I didn't feel muggy whatsoever like you do at a lot of other places with poor ventilation. There is also a decent concession stand with a ton of options if you've got the munchies. They also offer coat check, have a smoking area, and large bathrooms with plenty of stalls. read more

Came to a concert with my friends. I am in a wheelchair chair and my friend was helping push me. We were told the ADA area were platforms to the right of the door, awesome! I'll actually be able to see! But when we got there, the ramps are way to short and too steep of a grade for me to safely push myself up. They are made of wood with no railing on the side, just a drop off! My friend and I thought we might be able to make it, but we weren't able to get up. I started to slide backwards and grabbed the side rails of the platform itself to try to stop myself from falling over, wrenching my shoulder and twisting my back. This seems like a great venue, but I doubt I'll come back and warn anyone else in a wheelchair that if you want to be able to reach the ADA area, you will need to flag down a worker and ask them to call for backup so they can push you up. The Complex has been negligent and exploitative regarding the information they provide on their events which has directly effected the safety and indoctrination of children under the age of 18. I attended an event at The Complex on April 29 at 7pm, while I will not name the Artist directly, JRC Events was the event organizer for this artist. When purchasing the ticket for the event/performance through The Complex's website, the event was advertised and labeled for "all ages," despite this Artist's music being explicit through its lyrics and as labeled through other music providers e.g. Spotify and Apple Music. While other businesses such as movie theaters and the overall movie industry provides warnings for explicit content and has age restrictions for attendance an example of this being for R-rated films which require parental accompaniment for children under the ages of 17, and children under the age of 7 are not permitted at all, The Complex has no such restrictions or even warnings regarding explicit content. When I contacted The Complex directly through email to inquire about the event being labeled as "all ages," I was informed that the decision for the age restriction/warning was decided by the tour and event promoter. Though the tour and event promoter decide the age restriction of their event (as told to me by The Complex through email), The Complex hosts the event and directly sells attendance tickets to the consumer with this "all age," label and permits attendance for persons under any age. I am unaware if The Complex takes the tour and event promoter at their word regarding these age restrictions or conducts their own research to provide an appropriate age restriction label, I was not given this information. My concerns have less to do with explicit content in the form of language in music lyrics but the explicit sexual content not advertised that was presented and performed at the event itself. During the event/musical performance, two men at different periods presented themselves on stage to an audience of adults and underage persons. The men wore risque clothing and lingerie while dancing in a sexual suggestive manner. One of the men presented himself in a robe before sexually dancing to the music and removing his clothing until he was stripped to his undergarments. The explicitly sexual and suggestive dance moves simulating sex involved rubbing of the breasts and genitals, grinding the hips and pelvis along the floor, using stair railings to hump and present their buttocks, and the removal of clothing in a strip tease manner. Speaking plainly, this was two men simulating sex through dance and removing their clothing for an audience of adults and minors. The sexual dance performances were not advertised in anyway by The Complex, Tour, or JRC Events, and despite this sexually explicit content, the event was advertised and labeled for "all ages" by all three providers. The lack of communication, warning, and appropriate age restriction label is irresponsible of The Complex and negligent. The Complex is responsible for providing an accurate age rating of appropriateness when hosting events and provide obvious and clear warnings when explicit and sexual content is going to be present. Not only did The Complex fail to do so, they refused to accept responsibility or discuss this evident issue. If you are a parent with a child wanting to attend an event at The Complex, consider this business' lack of accountability, inappropriate, and dangerous behavior through their evident and deliberate dishonesty. read more

My husband and I have attended lots of concerts at the complex in the last 8 years! The main concert hall is just a huge open room and everyone just crams in. It's not the most ideal to be pressed up against sweaty strangers but it's also part of the experience! Ha ha They have a section you can pay extra to sit in so you have a chair and are higher up above other people but after you pay for the tickets it's ridiculous you have to pay extra to get a decent view. I wish they had a free seating area, even if it was all the way in the back! They have a bar area in the back where you can get drinks and sit while you watch the performance but there is hardly any seating and the sound quality sucks. They also have a rewards program, which I love! Every time you attend a concert there you get a sticker and the more you get the more free stuff you get! That pass also lets you skip the line to get in! Game changer!! Overall it's not somewhere you're gonna go and be blown away but in the end it's fine because you're really just there for the band! read more

I'm not usually picky about concert venues. A venue is a venue, and as long as it sounds pretty good, I'm not upset. However... I went to see The Used and Coheed & Cambria here in August, and the show was great, and the venue was fine, except for the fact that they have some ridiculous rule that if you buy a beer in the bar area, you must drink it in the bar area, and you are not allowed to take it outside, to drink it while watching the show, while a beer bought in the concessions/merchandise area is allowed to go outside. They don't tell you this until your trapped, and therefore forced to chug your entire beer before they'll let you out. Not a fan, and I feel like everyone needed the warning. read more

Didn't really "experience" much here. Went to see Missio who opened for Yungblud this past Saturday night. Parking sucked. There isn't any. I parked down a long road around a turn. Didn't feel safe walking by myself to the venue at all. Went in, saw Missio perform, used the restroom, then went to leave. When I was leaving, one of the security guards asked where I parked. I explained I was all the way down the street, and felt a little uncomfortable walking alone in the dark. The guards chatted for a sec, and Leon said he would walk me to my car. The complex is located just one block west of the gateway mall. It's on the border of an industrial area and a newly re-developed section of downtown. With that being said. Parking is very limited, a bit sketchy. However, the complex at Rockwell as it's known brings some of the biggest names in music through SLC. Even with a good selection and lineup throughout half of the year. The large space here is one big black box. No ambiance/aesthetics, bad sound, & no seating or even tables. I have been to a small show in just the front room and that felt very intimate. The lighting in the small room is good. The lighting in the large room is bad. I think what this place needs is a fresh new perspective and a renovation. I purposely avoid shows here because of that. However it is a big place and prices are good along with the bands. read more

Only care if your ViP at the beginning. After that you're worse than any person that paid GA price. No special access, no special seating their full even if you're one person under 6' ft. They will block your camera and tell you to "fuck off you don't matter" doesn't matter even when there is literally 5 mins left they will even threaten the police. Despite my extreme distaste for The Complex, I am sadly beholden to the venue because many artists I like happen to perform here :( The entire space is essentially an idiot proof warehouse. This makes perfect sense because the crowds can get a bit dicey in comparison to other venues. Other things that I really dislike: 1. The parking situation is decent, if you make it there in a timely fashion. If not, good luck. 2. Because people can't behave, you have to be "thoroughly" searched before entrance. 3. The last time I was here in late November it was hot as fuck. Hell, I came here for an art showcase in spring a few years back, and even with a fraction of the crowd it was still painfully hot. I'm convinced that the fans here are strictly for decorum. 4. The sound quality is consistently bad. This place wasn't built for good acoustics to begin with, and whoever's in charge of the engineering, on really any given night, isn't doing the space any favor's either. Positives: 1. There are those lit soft pretzels usually reserved for movie theaters and sports stadiums. Okay, a very small but dope victory. They really should have taken that drug money and invested it back into the building to make a somewhat decent venue. read more

Just went to hippe sabotage and as we are getting our drinks (didn't id us) one of the workers decided to comment on what we were wearing saying our dress was to short. (girls were practically naked) no judgement but creepy then proceeded to follow us around most the night. Trying to make "small fall" Super creepy and inappropriate. The food is super over priced. Kind of a trashy place for a concert. Felt demonized by the band kept playing weird satanic music between the actual songs by them. All together gross. Bleh, I was not really a fan of this space. It's just a big warehouse. Parking is ridiculous, in fact I didn't enjoy my evening as much as I might have simply because I was worried my car might be towed (or broken into). My husband thought the acoustics were awful. We were here in October, and even with the doors open to the "smoking patio" it started to get hot in there. I can't imagine what it would be like in the Summer. They offer a bit of food (pizza, etc), but I didn't try any so can't say if it's good or not. I didn't really see anyone else order any so I'd guess not. They have signs everywhere that there is no re-entry. Just all around unimpressive. read more

Honestly, this is just a crappy warehouse venue with seemingly no effort put into it. Is it the best we have in Utah? Pretty much. A couple of months ago I went to a similar sized venue in Denver and was blown away by it. I saw an artist there that I've seen play at The Complex a couple of times, so I thought it would be a fair comparison between the two venues. Seating: The seating here sucks. Whether in the small or big room you are going to be on your feet the WHOLE time. At least in the smaller room they have two tiny little platforms you can get on if you're early and lean against the railing of, but other than that you are on a completely flat floor the whole way through. Would adding some levels really be that hard? To compare to the Denver venue, they had 4+ levels of elevation in their floor and then in their balcony as well. There was not a bad spot there...the same can't be said about The Complex where you won't be seeing a thing if you're not over 5'10. Sound: It's basically a warehouse with minimal acoustics. Sure, there's some pads on the wall to help with echoes, but that's about it. The same artist sounded wildly better at the other venue. They do host a good amount of shows, and I'm sure will continue to do so. I just wish they were a little more motivated to make the venue a memorable, exciting place to go to. Of course I'll be going back because where else can I go, but I will happily travel over to Denver anytime it's a show I really want to see in a good venue. read more

Time for an update. I admit it, I was wrong. I attended another show at this venue and discovered that there are multiple venues in one, and the entire concert area we were in last time was transformed into a giant bar. They still segregated the 21+ crowd from the kids, but at this show this was welcomed. The DJ set was streamed into the 21+ side on huge projection screens and everyone was dancing so it was still fun. Drinks are still served in plastic cups, or test tubes, your choice. Drinks are pricey but that goes along with any show. Servers were on top of everything and very friendly. Bathrooms in the main lobby area were a godsend. I've been to other shows (I guess you'd say raves but that sounds so trivial) at other venues and have to wait in line for the bathroom for over 30 minutes. Not the case at the Complex. Tons of brightly lit stalls and clean. I would definitely attend another show here and I hope they continue to book more house/dubstep/trance shows here. read more

Checked out a show here a week ago and thought it was alright. The size is perfect for a lot of band that can't fill up saltair but are too big (or don't want to play at) for In the Venue. The problems have to do with the sound not being changed during the bands set. They kept screaming for something to be done, but nothing got changed. They changed the lyrics of one of their songs to "The sound guy sucks!" The bar is also on the second level and very tiny. There were 60 or so people crowded into an area that is meant for 20. The Complex - Bars Near Me - Salt Lake City, Utah

I took my son and his friend to the AJR concert a couple weeks ago. As others have mentioned, this place is just west of the Gateway and there is no parking next to the event center. The best parking is at the Gateway parking garages and you walk over. It's about a 2-3 minute walk. We did not run into any homeless people on our way there like others talked about in the past and that could be because there are a ton of newly developed housing complexes in the area. They do a general check at the gates, looking into bags, but that's about it. No security / metal detectors. It's low key security. The venue is a large warehouse with the stage on one side, a concession stand in the open when you walk in and another open section on the other side. There are plenty of bathroom stalls, which is great. There were two sides to this event because it was for all ages. The left side was for any age; while the right side was for 21 and older with an open bar. It's a large space with a massive ceiling fan. It wasn't turned on, but they did have the doors open on the sides which kept it cool enough in the place with all the people. It's standing only, on a concrete floor so wear comfortable shoes because after 2 hours of standing, it hurts. Also, if you are not tall, and I am not, good luck seeing the stage or get there well before the doors open to get close to the front stage. The right stage speaker wasn't working so for the first part of the concert and people there were complaining they couldn't hear the music. The sound quality was pretty good overall, at least on the left side. They had two large screens, one on each side, but only showed clips of upcoming events during the breaks. It never showed the stage while the concert was playing. That would have helped people in the back see the concert, but I also get why they didn't use them because it would take away from the stage lightshow... on a side note, AJR was a phenomenal show! After the concert ended, you could get in line to purchase memorabilia. That was a cluster f#$%, sorry, but wow they had absolutely no preparation or organization to it. No ropes to get people to follow a single path. They attempted to move people to zig back and forth and that could have worked until another hundred people came pushing up against the lines. Luckily we were close to the front and just moved our way through after ten minutes. Another problem was that they only took a couple people at a time to order and pay. They need to rethink how that works in the future. read more

The Complex - AJR! - Bars Near Me - Salt Lake City, Utah

I'd say The Complex is actually one of the better venues in Utah. I've attended over a dozen concerts here and overall the sound is pretty good. If you're into metal, The Complex gets the best bands. There are multiple venues with The Complex, I've attended The Grand, The Rockwell, and The Lot (outside). My favorite is The Grand because you can still see the show from the balcony bar area. If you want to drink at the other venues you have to go to a separate area or you can only get beer, which is inconvenient. Nevertheless, the drinks are way better than a certain venue down the street. They keep the building pretty clean. And they have plenty of bathrooms which is a nice change compared to some other midsized venues. There's also a friendly security guard there who works the door and tells you to have a nice night. I appreciate little customer service perks like that. And yes, parking is a pain, but where is it not in SLC? read more

I attended one of the City Weekly Music Awards 2012 shows at The Complex, Vertigo venue in February. The Vertigo itself was small, but the REALLY tall ceilings make it feel a lot more open which was great. The large stage dominated the far end of the room with room on the sides for the bands to store their instrument cases and other equipment. The audio system at the Vertigo was very good with clean sound and minimal distortion. The stage also featured a smoke machine and excellent stage lighting. As a photographer I always appreciate good stage lighting and I got some great photos during the City Weekly Music Awards show. I would definitely recommend this venue and would not hesitate to go back. read more
