My kids favorite comic/card store in Ottawa. Plenty of figurines, cards, games and stock to keep everyone interested.

I am not well versed in most of the stuff. We took a personal tour of the store to show me everything he had related to the one topic I said I was looking for as a gift. He's got a lot of good ideas and seems like he can also order anything he may not have at the time. Note he also runs a website which I'm pretty sure has a wishlist feature, so check this out as well! I'm really happy this store came to the mall. It's a great shopping store. He also had a cute tie-in for the kids with the mall Santa over the holidays. Nice to have the community feel back in the mall. 4 star only because I think some overall customer comforts like music and curb appeal would really do a lot to draw people in. Also the boxes along the back make me feel like they could pick up and leave at any time, but that's clearly not the case as they've been here a while now.

If there is some sci-fi/comic/anime/horror collectible or pretty much any other element of nerd/geek culture that you are interested in for your collection he seems capable and ready to get it for you. As, I said the in store set up is a bit on the tiny side though and things aren't necessarily easy to find as much of his inventory is in boxes you cannot get to or in the manufacturer shipping boxes that although are labeled (often with b&w graphics) they don't really give the actual collectable proper justice. It is very much a store front for an online shop and much of what he carries are thins fans have already got their sights on from online reviews/previews. This works fine for those like me but my wife visited a few times looking for a gift for me only to leave empty handed because the statues and figures she was looking for were not displayed and since she didn't have anything specific she was looking for couldn't find anything.

I came here to look for birthday gift items for a friend. Naturally, I tend to hit the cheap book section and see if there's anything that my friend would like, which ends up being a book at I want! Even though my friend isn't a child, I stumbled into the children's section. I am a big kid at heart and was pleased to see Yummy World stuffed toys, along with pandas, pineapples, and more. I came back to my senses and found a car charger in the shape of a cactus. It had three USB ports. It was perfect for my friend! It was perfect for me, too. It was 50% the regular price. I enjoyed looking at the merchandise in this store. The beverage bottles looked pretty. I smiled at the food coin purses and taco caps. It was almost as if staff knew that I would like food-themed items and they rolled out the food carpet for me. The woman at the checkout was great. She was friendly and cheerful. I had her scan my Indigo rewards card off my phone. It works nicely. This store is in a plaza, with Winners and Marshalls within close proximity. I'd come back to this Chapters when I'm back in town. Hobby shops like this simply do not exist anymore in New York which used to have a slew of them when building plastic models was popular. There are still a couple of mom & pop places scattered around but not on the scale of the Hobby Centre. Kids these days only interact in the virtual world and hobbies like this will eventually fade away. But in the meantime, I'm going to hoard as many plastic model kits that will fit in my house. My favorite theme for building and painting plastic models are World War II planes, so I was on the hunt for a 1/72 B-17G Flying Fortress or maybe a B-29 Superfortress. Airfix (from the UK) is one of my favorite brands and they stock a lot of their line here, but neither bomber were in stock on this trip. The hunt goes on. They did have a new release of the Avro Lancaster, which I have been searching high and low. I also picked up an Italeri JAS-39 Gripen and a vintage Airfix BAC Lightning. Prices are pretty good, especially on the older vintage kits along the back wall. With the favorable US$ exchange rate, I got some good deals. If I had spent more time here, I definitely would have blown through all the cash in my wallet, never mind my spending limit on my credit card. I just might have to make a return trip to Canada with a large trailer!
