The Columns at Independence is now known as Tattersall Village. We lived there for two years. A year as columns and a year as tattersall. If you have been to Hinesville, you know there aren't many nice apartments. I would say this is the nicest one in town. We were very excited when we first moved in. We had a 2br 2ba on the 3rd floor. It had high vaulted ceilings, a nice small kitchen (I HATE the 'pantry'...it was beside the refrigerator, was super narrow yet very deep. Basically you have to reach arm deep to get stuff out) big rooms, nice size bathrooms. All in all we had a good bit of space. I enjoyed the layout of the apartment we were in (some buildings are different). We had our own porch which meant no one would be walking by our door/windows unless coming to the apartment. The closet of the patio is small but is nice to have. The gym is small but was never crowded when I used it. The pool is nice. Only half of it is usable when they have the fountain on. A downside to the pool is random people who don't live there will come on weekends. It got super annoying when my family tried going down on Sunday's and a million people would be down partying so there were no chairs left for us! They have a pool pass but I never saw them check it. Plus on Sunday's they are closed so no one is there to keep watch. The apartment is 'gated' but anyone and everyone lets people in or they drive in behind you. Not to mention you can drive around back to get in. The gate is also always broken. Parking sucks if you live in the front 3 buildings. Therefore, people parked in the handicap/stripe spots or along the curb. Which in my opinion, is lazy as hell and shitty because someone that needs it can't use it. Maintenance isn't too great. The main guy Michael is nice but they basically rig everything. Our dishwasher didn't work the entire time we lived there. The buildings are newer but aren't constructed well. Our walls cracked in multiple areas. Maintenance caulks over it but it just shows up again after a few months. The walls are thin so you do hear neighbors if they are noisy. However, if they aren't overly loud it's quiet. I never heard TVs or anything. Just when our neighbors partied or fought! Now the biggest thing...rent...ah the rent lol. Honestly rent anywhere around Hinesville is high and YES it is due to being a military town. I lived in Atlanta, college towns, etc and rent here is not equivalent to what you get!! You can rent many houses for what you pay here. One bedrooms are in the $900s then it just goes up. Ours was $1100. Another thing we weren't aware of was they increase rent each year. Before we moved we were going to be paying around $1200. Also, when we first moved in they told us there was a set utility fee. However the fee changed each month. It would be $40 one month then $48 the next. It fluctuated, not by much but I found it odd that we were told one thing and charged differently. If someone lived on a fixed income, this would be an issue. We moved after 2 years to a home and only pay $600 for a 3br 2ba. Honestly, this place isn't BAD, IF you don't mind paying a lot for an apartment. We didn't have pets BUT like someone else said, people don't pick up after their pets! We enjoyed living there even though there were a few issues. read more
