My younger son (8.5 years old) has been on program for six months after we saw him loose focus and his love of learning during the pandemic. Our neighbor mentioned Kumon to us and I decided to bring him in for an assessment. He is now in the highest reading and math group and his teacher has noted the improvement since September. The shocking news, I think is with my older son (11 years old). We received his schools standardized test scores (they test students quarterly) and he has moved up significantly from starting your program. I had brought in the NJSLA when he was assessed at Kumon with a 208 Fall 2020 for reading (25% growth). We were very disappointed as our son is a bright boy and having a 25% growth was not like him. Nothing else has changed and he has fought the program every day, every step of the way. If he is not an example for kumon, I do not know who would be. He scored in the 99% for growth in reading and language usage!!! ( Reading went from 208 to 235 Language usage 203 to 219 fall 2020 to winter 2021 ) He would not be there without your team. Their summer program is top notch. The staff is EXCELLENT. The environment is warm and friendly. What a professional, caring, compassionate, wonderful group of human beings work there! The summer program is 5 weeks long, quite affordable, has morning and aftercare available, and takes children from kindergarten to 11th grade. There are numerous activities for the children to participate in; and is broken up into age appropriate teams. My 6 year old son has attended 3 summers in a row, and looks always forward to the time he spends here. It's the community factor that he loves the most. I've come in contact with many camps over the last several years (in several townships), and this has been the BEST one I have encountered. During the school year they offer a variety of arts classes for children and adults. Registration begins in September, and classes start in October. Unfortunately it was unforgettable for all the wrong reasons. From professors consistently showing up late, to just damn everything. It looks like a great school as its new but its in a terrible area, so walking home late from class i was getting harassed constantly by people. It was just miserable, definitely do not recommend, they don't care what goes on, which is typical of universities in general. NJIT lacks leadership, diversity and a community. Terrible school don't be fooled by the upward trend in there university table scores, they are data driven to hit these metrics by hook or by crook. I'd happily talk and to anyone before going to this school and id I would advise them about strictly not going, you will be hugely disappointed. I sent my two daughters to this school. They were in pre-school 2 and 3. The first thing that…read moremade me feel something was wrong was the abnormally high teacher turnover (7 different teachers in less than a year). Granted this was during COVID but none of the other schools had such a high turnover. It was also messy, disorganized and their communication was horrible. I think could have lived with all that. However, my 3 year old came home with a black eye one day. She told me that "Ms Yin Li kicked her in the face with her foot because she was angry that she would not fall asleep during nap time". When I called the school the next day to ask what happened, the principal, owner and other staff, tried to give me 100 theories as to what could have happened to her (she must have bumped herself against the cot, she probably hit herself against the bench because kids fight for the red bench, it happened outside of school, etc) instead of focusing on what my child was saying. I tried to have the school press charges against Yin Li, but she had already also resigned and they told me it was "too late" (maybe 5 weeks had passed since the incident) so I decided to file a complaint with the state (which came back inconclusive but at least I reported and recorded the incident). Please don't send your kids to this place, there are other much better schools in the area. I met up with one of the parents a few weeks ago and about 80% of the kids moved on to other schools as well. My name is May Hou, and everything in this message is true.
