Finally a woman's boutique had returned to Red Bud, IL. Two hard working 20 something's started…read morethis business online about a year ago, and decided it was time to open a store front. They are two friends from high school who realized a need for women in a small town, or was it that they were from a small town. It started out online, selling a few dresses, some blouses and leggings. They listened to their customers and added scarfs, shoes, boot socks, headbands, hats, etc.... Once again customers asked if they had thought of opening a store front, that way one could try on the items and really do some browsing. I know I shop better in person then on line. On Saturday March 22, 2104 a grand opening was held. People were waiting in the parking lot and the store quickly filled up. Brown and pink bags were happily toted out of the store with some happy women. The owners were overwhelmed with the response. These two ladies are still working their full time jobs, so they are thinking the hours will be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday night from 5 to 8 pm and Saturday 8 to 2. They still have their website and are going to be adding more summer time apparel. Stop and shop if you are close to Red Bud.

The first thing that caught my eye was an upcycled flannel with a vintage MTV T-shirt sewn onto the back. I had never seen anything quite like it! We learned that the owner handcrafts them using vintage flannels and old concert or graphic T-shirts, making each one completely unique. It was such a creative idea, and I loved seeing something you can't just find in any big-box store. The rest of the boutique was just as fun to browse. There were great-smelling candles, adorable ceramic mugs (my friend couldn't resist buying one!), essential oils, and all kinds of unique gifts and home décor. It was one of those stores where you keep finding things you didn't know you needed. One of the best parts of our visit was chatting with the owner's husband and his sister-in-law. They were so welcoming and genuinely fun to talk to. We even got to hear the story behind the shop's name. Pixie Clementine is actually their dog! There's an adorable photo of her behind the register, and they told us how his wife convinced him they needed a "shop dog." As it turns out, Pixie prefers hanging out at home, so she's more of a mascot than an employee! Between the one-of-a-kind items, the friendly conversation, and the family atmosphere, this boutique was such a memorable stop. If you're visiting Kimmswick, I highly recommend taking the time to browse. It was easily one of the highlights of our day.

I'm going to say my piece because I was raised to believe that you treat your neighbors the way you…read morewould want to be treated yourself. I came across the TikTok from Pixie Clementines and was honestly pretty shocked by the way the owner was talking about her neighbor and making fun of the long grass. Maybe the yard wasn't looking its best, but goodness gracious, there is a difference between having a laugh about something and publicly making fun of somebody. If you're concerned about your neighbor, why not knock on the door and ask if they need a hand? That's what people used to do. What really rubbed me the wrong way was seeing the comments being hidden and people being blocked instead of simply addressing what was being said. If you're going to put something like that out on a public business page, people are naturally going to have opinions about it. You can't just sweep away the comments you don't like and expect nobody to notice. I've lived long enough to know that a business is more than just a storefront. The way you treat people, especially the people around you, tells me a whole lot more than a cute shop ever could. I certainly won't be spending my money there. There are plenty of small businesses where kindness and common courtesy still matter. Also, she now took the post down to hide the fact that she was experiencing negative reviews.
