The very best interaction came when she acknowledged my low funds and asked me if I had a similar dress at home. I told her I did but I didn't know how to make it look 'sharp and with it.' She brought out earrings and a scarf and suggested they would work. I asked her if I could bring in the dress the next day and we could put them all together. She agreed!!! I brought them in. She put all the items together and it looked spectacular. Honestly I would never have thought they would work. They did!! Thank you Laurie and Great Finds!!

This past spring Beverly and Kaylee went above and beyond by putting together a box of things for my daughter and shipped it to Vancouver for her to try - all the items were spot on. At Christmas they helped me figure out what to get for my colleagues across the country. Can't go wrong at October - you'd have to aim to miss - I'm always surprised that the price is lower than expected.

Most are one of a kind and others are "one of a kind in this colour." They have everything from jewelry to purses and even hankies. It's not for everyone, but it's a great place to buy a gift for someone that wouldn't normally shop in a boutique. Go at the end of each season for blowout prices. I found a beautiful silver and pearl necklace for my wedding here and got half off. There is a lot of handmade and sterling silver jewelry which is good if you have alloy allergies. Some items are a bit pricey, but because most are handmade and original, you get what you pay for. Check this place out even if you're not going to buy anything.

They carry a unique mix of vintage dresses, work-appropriate basics, and gorgeous accessories. The store is nicely organized, making it easy to browse and admire the amazing clothing. Not only is the selection great, but the prices are amazing! I was surprised every time I looked at a clothing tag because it was at least $20 less than I expected the item to cost. Maybe I'm just used to the price gouging that occurs in Vancouver. My friend bought two gorgeous dresses for less than $150, both of which were great finds. I ended up buying a pair of socks from Blue Q and a nice pair of black bamboo leggings for less than $40. If you love dresses and unique clothing, definitely shop local at Out of the Blue!

We met the gorgeous couple who hand-make the gorgeous jewelry sold under the Dconstruct name at the Winnipeg Folk Fest, and then got to visit their shop and atelier in town. They've got their whole families involved making modern lovely pieces, and everything feels made with care and packed with love. My favourites are the pendants made of cement with rose gold, super stunning and like nothing else I've really seen. They also stock a small but beautifully curated collection of independent designer fashion for women, including Eve Gravel from Montreal whose dresses just keep getting better and better, and some stylish t-shirts and tops. They have some art and cards for sale and a number of other treasures in the tiny space. Definitely go say hi if you are in the area. This little designer shop perfect for gift giving and for buying that one piece that everyone will ask you about and then you can say casually "Oh this, i got it in Winnipeg!" And it will sound terribly exotic.

Great Product, Great Customer Service…read more A few months ago I had purchased a pair of beautiful and unique looking concrete cufflinks for my boyfriend from a boutique distributor in NYC. After attending an event he was devastated to find that one cufflinks had been lost and the boutique no longer sold them. While researching concrete cufflinks online I found Dconstruct and called and spoke to Trish who was able to verify that the cuffs were originally from Dconstruct. Even though Dconstruct does not still currently offer the exact combination of color concrete and gold of the original pair, Trish was able to get an identical replacement pair and send them to us, completely as a curtesy. This level of kindness and commitment to ones customers really stands out. I am so deeply appreciative to Trish and the team at Dconstruct. I am also very excited to have found them because they have great products and I'm definitely looking as I shop for unique gifts my loved ones (and myself).
