So, one of the people I was with, grabbed a clean plate, napkin, and fork from another table (they're randomly on different tables) so I could have one. It was a group of 3 of us. 2 got the buffet, I personally ordered the Lamb Rogan Josh. The buffet didn't really have great options and the naan bread was just sitting out, so it wasn't nice and fresh. The food was decent, but it wasn't great. It was lacking in salt and surprisingly my meal was lacking in seasoning. I know. I know. Crazy right!? Indian food is never under-seasoned, but here we are. It honestly just tasted like spicy yogurt. Heat. Pepper. Not really the same as seasoned. The heat level , but the seasoned level ehhh. I took it to go and it got better the next day with some salt and covered in mint and tamarind sauce. Now, the meat samosas on the other hand, they were good. They needed a little salt, but they tasted pretty good. I mean I honestly have no complaints with them. They were nice and big. Crunchy. Seasoned pretty well. Overall 8/10 appetizer. No complaints from me on it. The other two enjoyed the biryani and bhatura ( soft fried fluffy bread) they had at the buffet. Those were the two things that stood out to them most. The restaurant is fairly dark and has a chill vibe where you just pick your own seats, which I really didn't have a problem with. My one complaint was the rips in some of the seats. It was a bit uncomfortable to sit on, but nothing that really destroyed your visit. It was more just like a "aww, man, that's annoying..." and then move on type of thing. Every once in a while I'd look down, see the big piece of tape and then have to reshift myself, but other than that, no big deal. Not only has the menu and dining concept changed, they remodeled the inside. Since Street Food in an Indian restaurant was new to me, I am going to focus my review on the food. Go there. We went for my wife's birthday and our entire party was happy. She ordered the Poutine. Wait, what?! Isn't poutine a CANADIAN traditional dish. Yes, but this was a great fusion food. She considers herself a poutine fancier. And, she loved it. Traditional poutine is an order of French Fries, with cheese curds and brown gravy. This was like it, but different. The first thing she noticed was that the fries themselves were seasoned with Tika seasoning, and so was the entire dish. There was enough to feed two, and she totally enjoyed it. They used paneer instead of cheese and she lauded it as wonderful. My youngest adult son got the Clay Pit Special Bhaji Pav. Don't worry neither he or I ever heard of it, but based on the server's recommendation and his gastronomic curiosity, he went for it. It is traditional in Mumbai (I just researched it to figure out what it is) Quoting a website, "The recipe is an amalgamation of vegetables spiced with a unique blend of spices known as pav bhaji masala and served with a soft bread roll aka pav." It was served with chopped red onion. He hates red onion and just left it out. Peas, potato and wonderful unique spices make up this stew like dish, served with traditional bread. I also took the server's recommendation in blind trust for my selection, Samosa Chaat. Just looking at the portion size that was presented, I proclaimed that this was a dish for a family of four. I was not far off as we took more than half of it home. Again, I have to turn to the internet to find out exactly what was in this wonderful dish. Again, the internet comes to my rescue. "Chaat is a broad term used for all Indian street food. It's mostly spicy, tangy and topped with yogurt and chutneys. ..has layers of chickpea curry and crunchy samosa". Sure. What is Samosa? "Samosas are savory pastries served as a snack or as appetizers. They are stuffed with lightly spiced potato and deep-fried until crispy and golden." Oh. This dish had them under the stew, not separate and I loved it. Our other two diners were not as adventurous. The both ordered wraps, one was Schezwan Paneer and Chicken creation. Yes, Schezwan, the food from China is incorporated here. Evidently, there is a lot of cross over between Chinese and Indian food. Second of the wraps ordered was the Chicken Egg. So if you are adventurous, go there. If you are not, go there anyway. You can enjoy "safer" wraps, rice or noodle dishes, wings, and one I've not heard of yet - Chinese Curry. I'll be back. The interior was nice and your typical Indian restaurant interior. I got the veggie sampler, lamb vindaloo in Indian spice level, and they threw in some free garlic naan which was incredible. The lamb vindaloo was perfectly spicy exactly how I needed it to be, the potato inside was incredible and the lamb tender. The veggie sampler was the BEST I have ever had at any Indian restaurant. Mint chutney was incredible. Garlic naan was super buttery and garlicky. Super nice owners and staff. I hate going places half an hour before they close but they were understanding. When they first opened, it was so sleek and shiny - a long way from what it is today! We ate there last Sunday the 19th of April. There is duct tape EVERYWHERE trying to hold the once glossy, once white, once clean laminate in place. The booth we sat in (also cushion ripped and worn) had no less than 6 strips of duct tape holding it together. If you look around the dining room, it is on most of the joints, keeping them together. It is als VERY junky and cluttered. Went to the bathroom (another area that needs a lot of work) and there are rolling storage cabinets lining the hall making it very claustrophobic. On the way back to the table I looked behind the bar - a hodge podge of tools and caulk guns and whatever else I do not know piled in the floor. It was a mess. Corners and baseboards, chair legs and booth bases were just - dirty. Years of residue built up. Probably won't eat inside ever again, it is just so depressing, especially after knowing what it once was. We were there at prime lunch time after church and there were only three tables seated and a couple of to go customers.
