In fact the gauchos came by almost too quickly and frequently, but they were also very friendly and attentive. So the service was top notch and warrants 5 stars. The issue was the meat wasn't the same quality we have had in the past. The salad bar was good, especially the pot roast and potatoes on the hot bar. The meats arrived quickly but the quality was mixed. Some were good but a few of them were fatty or overcooked. The flavor was good for the most part but we had to put a few pieces aside that were too fatty or not cooked properly. The picanha was good but some pieces were tough and overcooked. The tri-tip was the same, which was disappointing as that's my favorite. The blue cheese steak was different and tasty. The issue was the inconsistency of the meats. Overall the service was outstanding but the missed quality of the meats caused the review to be 4 stars.

We had a reservation for four and were initially seated in a back room at a table in the far corner next to an emergency exit, completely removed from the beautiful main dining area, salad bar, open kitchen and atmosphere that are part of the experience. Before even sitting down, we politely asked if we could wait for a table anywhere outside of that room. We weren't asking for a specific table and were perfectly willing to wait. After waiting, we were taken back through the restaurant--only to be brought to the SAME back room and offered the table directly beside the one we had just declined. Our issue wasn't one particular table; we had specifically asked not to sit in that back room. Meanwhile, we could see available tables in the main dining area and watched parties who arrived after us being seated there. What made the situation worse was the attitude from the hostesses. By the time a manager became involved, it was presented as though we simply "weren't happy anywhere they seated us," which wasn't true. When the manager asked where we wanted to sit, I explained that literally anywhere outside of that room was fine. We were finally seated elsewhere and the issue was resolved. Having my senior parents unnecessarily walk back and forth through the restaurant also made the situation more frustrating, especially since one has difficulty walking. What should have been a fun birthday dinner started off stressful and uncomfortable. I completely understand restaurants have seating rotations and closed sections, and I don't expect to choose an exact table. But when you're spending nearly $300 on a special-occasion dinner, the atmosphere is part of the experience. That isolated corner beside an emergency exit seems much better suited for overflow than regular seating when other tables are available. Thankfully, once we were finally seated, we were able to enjoy our dinner. I hope management addresses both the seating setup and the way the front-of-house staff handles reasonable guest requests. Simply listening to us the first time would have prevented the entire situation.

And for my entrée, I went with the steak frites, and it did not disappoint. The view was just as good as the food! The counter and overhang look like a barbecue shanty inside the building. I ordered my food to go. It was around 8 o'clock at night and it was still steady business wise. There's only one negative thing I can say about the entire experience, they're short on employees. The poor young woman at the ordering counter was alone and had to wait on tables and take care of customers in the dining room, then run to the register to take orders, while delivering peoples drinks and food because much of the clientele gets food to go like me. You could tell she was frustrated, but she didn't push her frustration down on the customers. She was still very cordial. The food was very good! I elected to get the brisket basket with fries and I got an extra order of coleslaw. The brisket portion was a tad small for the cost in my opinion, but the quality and flavor beef made up for it and it was a very enjoyable meal! Probably one of the best I've had in a while to be honest. So if you find yourself in the quaint little town of Dade City, I would highly recommend stopping in and give it a try, it may have been an off night for the employee so I won't knock them for having an employee shortage.
