A nice little humidor shop in the Petroleum Club area of Lafayette. They offer a selection of Davidoffs, as well as other high end cigars. They don't really sell cigarettes, they only sell the super fancy ones. The clerk was helpful, and attentive. They offer a number of lockers here that you can lock up your cigars and smoke them there at your leisure. There is plenty of comfortable seating in the air conditioning where you can kick back and enjoy your cigar. Check this place out for your smoking needs. read more

Young man who helped me, knew his stuff. I always ask what cigars have been added to their selection in the last month. Then I ask for "attributes". Description was based on experience, not something read in that crap magazine Aficionado. One of the better looking cigar lounges I've been too. Rental lockers, plenty of seating. It's a shame though. Wherever I travel, I always find the closest cigar shop or lounge. When the regular customers treat visitors like intruders, it can kill future business, let alone is a slap in the face to the owner. I understand from my wife who grew up in this town that it can be a cultural "thing", but that is just crap. I'm polite, not loud, overbearing, arrogant, or intrusive. There simply is no excuse for the snobbish attitude I saw each of the three days I popped in here. I won't reflect that in the shop rating. They may have no idea. Good selection, kept right temp and humidity. Recommended for selection and service. read more

Cigar Merchant - Tobacco Shops Near Me - Lafayette, Louisiana

This is a cool little shop. I stopped in while on a business trip to Lafayette and picked up a few cigars. They have a pretty decent selection, so not so easy to find items and the prices on the ones I got were good. The only knocks Ive got are that they close kinda early 6:00 on weekdays, so I didnt have time to stay and burn one and that probably 20-25% of the cigars in the humidor were not priced. Not any huge deal. Ill be back to see them next time Im in town. Also, customer service was great. read more

I went in to buy a humidor and cigars for my husband's birthday and chose this place because of another review and I was not disappointed. Great environment and staff. Being a women and inexperienced with cigars, walking in was very intimidating. James was an excellent help and extremely knowledgeable, it turned out to be a very enjoyable shopping experience. He picked out some excellent cigars for my husband and knew so much about them. We will definitely be back. Recommended. read more

The first time I ever went to the Cigar Merchant a young man named James helped me. I have never met someone as knowledgeable and enlightened as James. He knew a great deal about cigars but also knew a lot about other interesting topics. I was very impressed and vowed to go back. The second time I ever went to the cigar merchant an ass hole named John Nugent helped me. It was as if I were bothering him with my presence. He complained about other customers and sighed every five seconds. The third time I went was on a Saturday and I was helped by another young man who looked as of he were in his mid twenties. He was also very well rounded with regard to the cigar world and knew even more than James. The only problem he has is he tends to be very loud and randomly farts.I was stunned. Combined they are by far two of the best employees customer service wise I have ever seen. My overall experience is very positive, minus the John guy and the farts. The shop is clean, upscale, and the other customers are very nice and considerate. read more

Good selection on the brands they stock. Prices are a bit higher than the cigar/knife/pipe shop across town but the atmosphere and variety is worth the price. Staff seem to know their product. They had a shoeshine service there. I haven't seen it in quite a while. Popular republican hangout so don't expect any deep conversation. read more

I decided to visit the Cigar Merchant after my buddy gave me an H upmann cigar at a get together for the 4th of July. I first went to Tobacco plus but found they simply didn't have a decent selection so I ventured over to this place. Wow what a selection at this place. The cigar closet has tons of cigars, I didn't even know they made that many. The gentlemen working on this day is what made me want to write a review. A younger guy who told me he really didn't know everything about cigars led to a pleasant surprise he knew so much about the cigars and made some great recommendations within my price range. James was very polite and took his time with me talking some politics, science and books while I shopped and even made some free coffee for me. This is the kind of employee that every business should have to thrive. All in all a pleasant surprise and I will surely be back to visit James' shop again soon. read more
