Trying a new barber is always a gamble, but I needed somewhere closer to work, so I decided to give this place a shot based on the reviews. PJ is my go-to barber--he takes his time and gives an excellent fade. I'm always entertained by the conversations happening there or lose track of time watching the movies playing on the TVs. I took my son today for his first hair cut at a barber shop. Over the phone I spoke to Anthony to set a same day appt and I explained that my husband always cuts his hair. My son has a hard time dealing with the machine noise and the feel of the machines on his head. And he said it was no problem. From the moment we got there we were greeted and Anthony got to cutting his hair. He was so patient and friendly and kept asking my son how he felt. My son felt so comfortable and he allowed him to cut his hair with no fuss. Anthony also made sure my other kiddos felt seen by giving them a lollipop! And the hair cut came out great!! First time at the chop shoppe today. I called to see if they take walk-ins and they do. Both walk-ins and appointments. Staff is very friendly, good conversation and music. My barber was Anthony, the time and effort he put in to my haircut was amazing, you could tell he really knew what he was doing. Very detail oriented. This place is hands down the best barber shop I've ever set foot in, in or out of the AV. I used to love the way it looked inside before, but after the recent remodel, the place just looks amazing. The atmosphere is perfect. The barbers, the best in the business, the conversation and vibe, second to none. Every time I walk into this place I know I'm not only going to get a great cut by Mark who is quite possibly the most gifted barber of our generation, but I'm going to be engaged in interesting and stimulating conversation the entire time. Every time I get my haircut, the time completely flies by and by the end, I'm in the middle of an amazing conversation and end up staying just to wrap it up despite my haircut being completed 20-30 minutes prior. I'm extremely grateful to have found this gem in the AV and there is no other place I'd be willing to get my haircut, apart from their other location in Quartz Hill. We've been to a lot of different hair cut shops, but The Chop Shoppe has far exceeded our expectations. The first time we visited, I think it was a Friday, they were super busy! We walked in and we're still able to get haircuts in under an hour. After realizing how popular these guys are, we started making appointments a few days in advance. We don't request a specific barber, so we've seen several different people and all of them have been wonderful. I have to say, that I've never seen attention to detail the way these guys do it. At your typical Super Cuts or Sports Clips, we're usually leaving less than satisfied, with uneven layers, like a shelf, with stray hairs we find later and have to trim at home. Not here. This place is legit. Blending like you've never seen before. So if you're looking to get a cool haircut that you don't have to fix yourself when you get home, this is the place to go. read more

I moved up to the antelope valley a little over a year ago and it's been a struggle to find a good barber. Someone recommended the chop shoppe and I am so happy I went. Alex greeted me when I walked in, asked how i wanted my hair and then proceeded to give me the best haircut I've ever had. Honestly I'm astounded but then it's my fault waiting 2 hours for barbers who it's painfully obvious they hate working there? I bet you learned cosmetologist in county prison. Mark good luck with your "hair salon 10/16/18 Too funny. So all the 1-star reviews from all these complete strangers ( that all have the same complaints) are here to conspire against you? And your numbers don't add up with your "90%. 20-30 min extra give or take" Let's do some basic math. The haircut is 15$ I tip the barber $5. I get a cut twice a month, that's 10$ extra a month, 120$ a year and that's just one customer. Brought my husband and son here for haircuts. We arrive 30 minutes before the posted closing time and as we were walking up a woman opened the door, looked at us and then closed and locked the door. I looked inside and the shop was empty, they just decided to close early even though we were obviously trying to go there. I was shocked that they would be so rude. I their actions as a sign the chop shop didn't want my money. This place is AMAZING!!! Everyone is so friendly and although they share a parking lot with some vehicle businesses I've never had an issue with parking. I think one time out of the whole year I visited this establishment did I park out in the street. My husband is very particular about his hair and it was kind of a challenge to find a place when we moved to the AV back in late 2017. Also I have always wanted an undercut (for fashion and psoriasis reasons) but the look isn't very popular out here (I had a couple hair stylists be kind of rude about the request). We actually came across The Chop Shoppe in Quartz Hill but my husband said the one on Sierra Hwy is bigger. Most of the review goes to Vicky though. What an amazing person she is. Incredibly kind, funny, and talented. She had no issues with my psoriasis spots. She styled both my hair and my husband's hair amazing every time. We were so happy after every cut! My husband and I always made appointments. She was always punctual and if we ever had to wait it was like 5 minutes most. We had now moved to Denver and I wish we could have taken her with us! They make you feel like a friend they haven't seen in while how personal your experience is each time! What kind of shop offers you a beer, and kids candy while they wait? They do! Not many places are willing to get to know you or your children. They will get it down so good that they know what cut you or your child likes and I'll deliver nothing less than perfection, Every. So this review is more by my 10 year old son than by myself, as he always insists on going here. He really likes the haircuts there, I mean really. Personally I will say that, for the amount of business they do the wait times are very good. Their system is a little different, think of it as controlled chaos. If you do not insist on seeing a specific barber your wait times will be much shorter, and they all do a good job. They are polite and professional. The prices are very reasonable. At the time of writing this review I think it is $14, but I always just leave a $20 as they work hard and consistently do a good job. The cuts they do seem almost artistic in nature, definitely nothing like supercuts or similar chain shops. The ambiance is nice, rockabilly but not a complete dive. This place is great. Made 10am appt with Joseph 2 days prior & was sitting down by 10:02 this morning! As usual, it was a freezing cold barber shop..(Thank YOU)...an oasis here in the desert! Sat down with a mop and got a flattop/awesome crew cut if flattened out! Joseph was a very focused barber...even though I began passing out from heat exhaustion from the previous day while he was half way through cutting... Showed up when they opened, out of 3 barbers 2 were open while the other was cutting. They had clients ahead, which would be usually fine, except for the part where the clients were late by almost 20 minutes. However, instead of taking someone else they made me wait. Another guy also came in to get a cut but they didn't take either of us because they had their 2 clients which were late by not 5 or 10 but almost 20 minutes. The whole time they were just talking to each other. I've never been to a business that prioritizes late clients over customers who are already there, dumb af.
