It was good because you could get a bag full of millions waaaaay before they sold them in those crappy thin packets like they do now (and for cheaper). These days, with the demolition of the cinema, Lord Street News has had to branch out and now it's more of a newsagent than just a sweet shop, offering a range of magazines and newspapers to all its customers as well as a decent selection of sweets (though not as good as they used to be). Bizarrely, they also sell children's toys (maybe something to do with their minimarket status on the window) as well as other bits and bobs you might think you need but don't actually. Somewhat creepily, there also appears to be some sort of doll/small children's clothing store underneath the shop, with their garments peaking out just above street level. Thankfully, small garments like these are not on sale in Lord Street News though.

In addition to young people's books, they offer a terrific variety of fiction and factual books for teens and adults. Most of the books are really cheap and you can definitely find yourself a bargain or more. The shelves are packed full of colourful and interesting reads, that you could easily spend a while browsing around. There are also a collection of cute little toys for infants, so kids aren't going to get bored in here!
