I can't recommend The Fred enough. We held our wedding here in September 2025. It's nestled in a…read morequiet, cozy area of Ghent, and we loved the natural gardens for our photos. Their pricing was also perfect for our tight budget. We felt so lucky finding this gem. Eleise was wonderful. She always answered emails or made herself available when I wanted to visit the venue twice more after signing the contract. We had just under 50 guests, and the space worked beautifully for the romantic and intimate setting we wanted. We had an outdoor ceremony and used both the indoor and outdoor spaces for our cocktail hour and reception. The only thing I wish had been different was being allowed to set up a little bit the day before. I was told it wasn't permitted due to past negative experiences. We were able to rehearse our outdoor ceremony the day before, but didn't have access to the indoor space. Because of that, there was a lot to do on the wedding day, and my crew simply didn't have enough time to get everything done. That wasn't The Fred's fault, I should've delegated things a little better and asked for more help. Looking back, even a couple of hours the day before just to walk through the space with my planning team and place stickies around the place explaining my vision would have helped tremendously. Just something to consider when choosing your venue.

I wish they can do something about the landscaping because It looks like big bushy weeds growing everywhere but I'm sure that's part of the "look" For the inside there are 2 floors you can make use of that includes a kitchen on the first floor. The center itself is spacious and for what I needed it for, it fit the need. The place is dated and could need some major remodeling.

You can rent this place and use it for a variety of reasons. A get together with family, work meetings, and even a dedicated recording room to do a podcast. This place is very clean and there is digital entry but for events there is always someone at entry to let you in and guide you to whatever event you are there for. If having an event in the Norfolk area this place is a definite option to consider.

There was plenty of space to set up a station for hors d'oeuvres and for the main courses. This venue easily accommodated for more than 100 people. Security was at the door to greet me and show me to the elevator. Everybody was friendly and we had such a great time. They also broke down the tables and chairs at the end of the wedding reception which was a nice touch.

Their Mediterranean pasta and daily special pasta caught my eye, but it's not something I'd normally go for so I kept looking. I eventually ended up coming back to the pasta and decided to check the price... and was surprised to see it was just $2.50. I was expecting something closer to $5 so I decided to grab two and have one for now and one for later. I enjoyed the tomatoes, olives, feta, and greens. It was a nice assortment of ingredients. If I had more time I would have probably gotten a glass of wine.

I visited for a Mindful Mornings event on a rainy November morning. Nearby metered street parking was easy to grab. For this event the space was set up for a presentation. A large projector screen was displayed in the front of the room. Small tables were set up on the side featuring some caffeine and sweets from local businesses who partnered for this event. There was ample seating around the room. The signs on the wall could be quickly changed to accommodate a menu or just an inspirational quote or message to fit the theme of the space. In the back of the room there was a full professional kitchen ready for some of the area's culinary talent to make magic happen. From their website "Created and sponsored by Grow. ENJOY: is a 501(c)(3), with a mission to raise funds for local, culturally-focused charities through unique creative experiences." I am so excited that this space exists and I will be actively keeping an eye out for unique local experiences in this space.
