a sandwich and french fries

Great sandwiches! We went to the town for the train. We ended up having lunch at this place because it was right next to the railway station. Their patty melt sandwiches were amazing! One of the best sandwiches I have ever had in my life. One star off because the waiting was extremely long. It was half an hour waiting OUTSIDE of the restaurant despite it was raining and chilling. We had a one year old child, but the waitress just told us to "wait outside". Food was good but no empathy.

This is our favourite breakfast place. Eggs bennies are always delicious, just the best. Pancakes and hot chocolate are great. Staff is very friendly!

Cheeks Homemade Burgers & Good Eats - Banquet Burger & Fries

Yelp helped us find a place for lunch in Bolton, ON and it no mistake. Cheeks is reminiscent of a…read moresmall local eatery. It knows what it is, with a menu consisting primarily of burgers & wings, limited sandwich options, a few pasta dishes, and some salads. Yes, it's licensed to serve adult beverages. We came for the burgers and this turned out to be the right choice, specifically the Banquet Burger is one of the best I've had in recent memory. The patty itself is hand formed from fresh beef and cooked to perfection i.e., fully cooked yet very juicy. Make sure you use a napkin and take your bit over your plate. (Our server wisely brought us extra napkins.) The back bacon accompanying the beef patty was well prepared and decent sized also, a very nice Banquet Burger indeed. I also loved the crisp pickle and very much enjoyed the fries. An interesting aside. One of the condiments on the table was "Max & Marcus" prepared mustard. It's labelled "Montreal Deli Style". I didn't need it for my meal but was intrigued as a departure from the usual "French's" or even generic. I had to taste it and determined that it is indeed "premium" as claimed and would absolutely choose it over the usual suspects. Cheeks is very close to a busy corner yet there is a free parking lot very close by. It was April when we were there so the Patio was not yet in service however we got a very nice table near the window. Service was cheerful, quick, and attentive. The place didn't seem especially large yet I'd definitely be back particularly as it's not far from the baseball fields at which we occasionally have a game.

Only tried it once, but it was enjoyable. Forget exactly which burger I had but it was good, worth…read morea visit. Friendly staff too!

Venue 4/5 Took off a…read morestar due to location being far up north. Plenty of parking with the gas station across the street which makes this a wonderful rest stop. Washroom and indoor and outdoor dining available. Service 4.5/5 Went on a Sunday afternoon. It was very busy as I went out with a car group. Around 130-150 more diners than the usual. Their team was able to handle all the orders within 10-15 min of wait after ordering food. The burgers are made fresh to order and theres a wide selection of free toppings. Washrooms and overall interior was very clean and well maintained. Food 4/5 Ordered a cheese burger and another burger with double patty. The price range is market price for gourmet burgers (around 9-12$ a burger + few dollars extra for combo that has side and drink). Ordered frings as well since I wanted to try both the fried and onion rings. The battery on the onion rings was soft, but not too much bread, a little more crisp would've been nice. The fries were seasoned and not too soggy.

I'd like to give it a bit of a higher rating as they do a lot of things right: nice open clean…read morespace that's great for a break from driving, nice staff, cooking to order and the burgers over a flame grill, and other things. It's just that the burger is a frozen, pre-fab patty and even at that, it's really average. The whole burger is elevated by the qualities above, but it can only do so much. And there's other frozen burgers that taste better than this one. On my second trip, I was in for breakfast and the sausage and egg sandwich was good too, but again, held back by a frozen item (egg) that would've been better if it were made from fresh. All that said, it's still fairly good AND their fries and poutine are very good. It's still a good option for a stop, but I wouldn't make it a place I'd go out of my way for either.

Grandma Loves You - Meatball sandwich - 12-inch

I was thrilled to learn about Grandma Loves You (GLY) opening its first location in the greater Toronto area. It's in York region in Aurora. Woo hoo! A few Yelp experiences at GLY's original location in Rosedale made me love the sandwiches and croissants. It has since moved its flagship location to Yonge and St. Clair, and has opened a few more locations. I have yet to visit the one near St. Lawrence Market. Someday, I'll get there. In the meantime, I had to visit this brand new location and made my way up here two Saturdays ago. Out of all their stores, parking here is the best. It's free. It's straightforward. It's easy and stress-free. There were a set of stairs to get you to and from this place. I was hoping that there was a ramp for those who need a wheelchair somewhere. I didn't see one. I got here at around 2 pm. It was pretty busy. My original plan was to dine in. It looked like I had do takeout. I had the most helpful, sweet woman behind the counter. I wanted a meatball sandwich, which is my favourite. I was rusty ordering it. She guided me through everything. You can get their sandwiches that are like subs in either a 6" or 12". I went with the latter. She said that there was a seat just behind me. There were more like lounge chairs. I was down nabbing a comfy chair. I also got a Diet Coke in a can. I needed something to wash everything down. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. She asked for my name and would call me when my order was ready. The best customer service occurred when this woman brought my sandwich to me. Wow! It was such a kind gesture. I thanked her and then tore through it. Oh, how I love the meatball sandwich! So many meatballs were packed into this sandwich. Each meatball was yummy and juicy, with the perfect amount of sauce. The lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and cheese pulled everything together with the most perfect bread. The Diet Coke was in the fridge next to where I was sitting. I grabbed a can. It was cold and delightful. Before I left, I got a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie to go. Starbucks used to offer this cookie eons ago. I don't know why the franchise took it off the menu. It was awesome. Well, this cookie was delicious and make me forget about the Starbucks one. It was packed full of white chocolate and macadamia pieces. It was just under $4 after taxes, but so worth it. I used the washroom before I left. There is only one stall. It was clean. but expect to take turns using it when it's busy. I am glad that I finally visited this location. Welcome to York region and Aurora, GLY! I'll be back for more. (398)

Also loved the addition of the pickle! Really needs the pickle! 4.5/5 Then came the croissant with chocolate and banana. Very good but enjoyed the breakfast sandwich more. 4/5 Overall it was great and definitely want to try more.
