i used to like this pub but its recently refurbished - i think it wants to be a cross between old english and a gentlemans club - but its turned out like a tacky film set copy and there was a bad smell every time the toilet doors were opened.
Went last saturday afternoon, bar staff didnlt notice us - was chatting around the corner. ordered a beer and a tea - bar person offered to fetch the tea over - but she couldnt find us - and thats fine i can wave. But not sure what would happen if it was busy.
There were two of us , we orded a two lunches, a chicken pie with chips and a burger and chips. The waitress never stopped talking and didnt seem to be listening, but it was only two simple meals, its not rocket science, so no need to worry - BUT we should have worried - the chicken pie vegetables and chips didnt turn up but a honey glazed chicken with new potatoes did
when this was pointed out they changed it (but not with good grace) and when the pie turned up the chips were burnt and cold. we were offered a free drink by way of an apology - however nobody said sorry and how does a free cup of tea ( one teabag and i bit of hot water) make up for eating seperatley - AND the way the staff looked at the meal they delivered and then cleared away they could see it was not good.
didnt bother comlpianing when i paid the bill - Sadly i really used to like this pub but we wont be going again read more
