The Shuttle Express is a small shuttle train that takes you from the Marketplace in St. Goar to the ruins of Rheinfel's Castle. The train moves at a slow pace so it's good for taking pictures while you travel up the near vertical street to the Castle. It's shocking actually when you realize just how steep the road is up to the castle. The operators of the train appear to be a husband and wife team. They're pleasant and friendly. I don't think they speak too much english though it didn't really matter. You can take the shuttle up one way for 3 euro adult or round trip 4 euro adult. It's well worth the trip unless you have a car to drive up the hill. The view going up as well as down is spectacular of the valley below and the castle ruins above. The shuttle runs every 25 minutes from the Marketplace in St. Goar to the parking lot at Rheinfel's Castle. read more
