There is a restaurant, closed Monday and Tuesday, and a bistro that will be open Those days. A wonderful room with a juice and water minibar. The nicest bathroom I have ever seen and a view to put you back in time. There is a museum below in the Castle that is included in your stay along With a private garden and your own key access to the garden. Only one luggage rack in the room but we improvise. Fresh fruit and a crystal decanter of sherry waiting on the table in the sitting room. 2 glasses and chocolates. For a little while, this is our Castle and our Maserati is parked below in a safe spot. Dinner reservation in a few hours.

This is the best 11th C castle that I have been to in Germany. There is no awfully narrated audio…read moretour and no bored guides leading you through the passages. Its self guided so you go at your own pace. It is large and has a lot of areas including secret or dark passages that you can explore on your own. Bring a flashlight. Seriously. Though my iphone with flashlight app worked just fine. It has some new areas such as the museum but mostly this is a very well preserved ruin. Expect to spent 2-3 hours here. There is a tram from town that will take you up but its no more than a 15 min walk. We did it pulling our luggage and leaving it at the ticket booth while we explored. The kids will love this place. Oh and there is a restaurant there too in case anyone in your group would rather drink. Have fun.

The restaurant was.... mediocre at best? The food was expensive and unfortunately not fit to my taste. The room was as I expected; small, but clean. The hotel was walking distance from most of the happenings in Bacharach. The front desk lady was kind.

Lucky for us our room was already available so we brought our stuff up, changed, and hit our bikes for the ride to Bacharach. Room 2 has a large terrace with wonderful views over the Rhein, Sankt Goarhausen and Burg Katz. We enjoyed the one night. As always, breakfast was great and Gill was his usual: the best host! He gave us some hiking suggestions (we always hike in/above St Goar) for a future trip. Without a doubt this is the place to stay in St Goar.

We had no problem finding his hotel- more like a bed/breakfast! You can pull up in front and he will help you unload your luggage. Parking if you drove is just a short walk away along the Rhein. You are right in front of where the boats go up and down the river to sightsee - get on- get off and explore! I highly recommend the hotel. The room is very clean, the breakfast is incredible and I thoroughly enjoyed the view from the balcony each night! Breakfast is fresh coffee, cheeses, meats, a hot dish like scrambled eggs, sweet breads, jams, fresh fruits! I can't wait to return to visit- and I would book early- this a small boutique experience!
