This church was a lot bigger than it appears from the outside! I had always walked by it, but never knew how grand it is inside. We were there to visit the relics of Saint Valentine (figuring it was a suitable thing to do on Valentine's Day). We slipped in during mass and found the specific shrine, which was covered in roses and various ribbons from visitors. We lit a candle and signed the guest book before crouching down to see the chest of relics, placed behind glass under the booth, somewhat obscurely. We admired the other shrines, which are quite beautiful, and left as the mass ended. We went into the church shop, hoping to find a candle or pendant of St. Valentine, but surprisingly, all we could find was a card with an image of the shrine. Overall though, a nice experience on the day of love. I'm still very surprised at how relatively unknown this Dublin treasure is! read more
