I decided to go for Sunday mass, but didn't realize it was a Matins, no Eucharistic session for this particular day. We were able to sit near the front side pews of the church, so we had awesome views of the choir and priests. The church was gorgeous and the pipe organ had that eerie, but majestic sound. The choir sang beautifully and I resonated with the sermon. I was not expecting a no Eucharist mass. After mass, we wandered the church and absorbed the history, before they kicked us all out for tours. Directly next door is St. Patrick park. A small nice park for a stroll and browse a few art vendors : )

One of the main attractions in Dublin as far as I'm concerned! I've always wanted to go to Ireland and see Saint Patrick's Cathedral. And it was even more than I could have imagined in person!! In person, it was so tall and ginormous! What a gorgeous building! The structure has such intricate details. I wish I was able to go inside. But I got there too late and could only view the outside. I'm still grateful that I was able to see it! A dream come true for me! :)

St. Patrick's is Dublin's Catholic cathedral. While it is not on the scale of many English cathedrals, it is still well proportioned with great architectural features, carved choir stalls, and gorgeous stained glass windows. You primarily have to pay to enter the cathedral but if you are attending a service it is free of charge. I attended a choral evensong which was sung by a visiting choir from Canada. It was a lovely and contemplative service and allowed me to experience the cathedral for its intended purpose. I always love seeing cathedrals during a service rather than as a tourist attraction.

I've visited Saint Patrick's Cathedral 2x now and loved it each time! It's only 10 Euros to visit and well worth it. The audio guide is so well done and interesting! They have audio devices you can use, or you can pull it up on your phone and use their free WiFi. We were able to participate in the Eucharist while there. The priest was very friendly and greeted us after. The place is bursting with so much history and beautiful art. The gift shop also had a nice variety of items.

When visiting abroad I tend to visit the churches. While in Ireland this was a given. We stopped in to have a tour around this beautiful cathedral. When you walk in you are greeted and pay for your tickets to tour the place. You are then given a small hand held speaker to guide you with the fascinating information of the place. The cathedral is stunning. You are given the opportunity to walk around and look at the great details of the place. There are places to light a candle and even a place to write something about someone you love or lost and place it on a metal tree. I did write out something for two of the most precious people I lost. I also lit candles. Towards the back you have the opportunity to sit down and take in the view while saying a prayer. You also have the chance towards the beginning and are able to taken in a more detail view of the church. I had a great experience and I'm so happy I had the privilege to stop in. I loved my visit and enjoyed walking around taking in the wonderful detailed works of this place. I also stopped at the gift shop because what is a visit without a souvenir. Would recommend you stop in a take a look. The cathedral itself is beautiful and is surrounded by a lovely park.

I went into the cathedral with some friends today and have been outside it a few times. It's an absolutely beautiful cathedral but it is a bit messed up to charge (€11) just to go inside. Something feels wrong about charging to enter a church but that's been a common theme in Ireland so maybe it's just how they do things here. It also felt wrong to have a gift shop inside the church selling stuff for €60+. The stained glass in the cathedral is absolutely gorgeous and is definitely worth seeing. There is also some beautiful architecture here. It's a very old and historic building so take your time and get your money's worth. If you don't want to play to go inside, the grounds outside are also fantastic. The exterior of the cathedral is beautifully constructed and the lawn is gorgeous. All in all, I enjoyed the views here. Everything is beautiful but it just felt wrong having to pay so much to go into a church.

This cathedral is absolutely beautiful and a must for the spiritually inclined and/or history lovers. I very much enjoyed the self guided audio tour option, in which you can listen any of the corresponding spots in any order you wish, without hearing the audio from anyone around you. Furthermore, the space is so large that it didn't feel crowded and we were able to enjoy our journey through this space. They encourage you to take a moment of silent reflection sitting in the sanctuary space and I encourage that as well. I found it to be a sacred experience in which I could connect with those in my heart and pay my respects to those involved in the building's long history. I'm very thankful for its existence and for all those who work to maintain it.

I think it goes without saying that St. Patrick's is a must-visit when you are in Dublin. Entry is free but donations are accepted. It is also about 10 minute walk from Dublin Castle so you can easily visit both on the same day. A beautiful historic and religious landmark.

The cathedral is amazing, it really is. We went on St. Patrick's day and it was a bit crowded. However, we purchased tickets in advance and only had a small line to get into, which was mostly people being turned away because they did not have tickets and then did not want to buy tickets to get in. So we all had to wait in line for them to decide to save 11 euros. The architecture and stained glass is stunning and worth the price of admission. There is a gift shop where you can get your coat of arms or various Irish made crafts. Definitely worth a trip if you are looking for something to do in Dublin.

This was such a beautiful cathedral. We learned a lot about the history with our little audio recorded guides. The only downside was the large crowds

founded in 1191, St. Patrick's Church in Dublin is a beautiful example of Gothic Revival architecture and one of the few buildings left from the medieval city of Dublin. The stunning stained glass windows cast constant rainbow colors across the pews. It's a beautiful cathedral and worth the quick audio guided visit. She started Catholic but ended up Anglican during the reformation and remains as such. Jonathan Swift is buried here.

For our September 2023 revisit Founded as Catholic - Now Church of Ireland One of the most scenic spots to visit also happens to be a highly rated monument in Dublin. The stained colorful glass is the first and the most notable thing at the cathedral that would have your attention. As you prepare to get inside the cathedral you will have to buy a ticket to see the place around. You can escape the queue by just taking a walk around the periphery and attending the mass that goes on throughout the week. The fact that St. Patrick's is the tallest and the largest church in Ireland puts it atop the list of must-visit places in Ireland.

This cathedral is easily one of the most iconic in Ireland, both for its rich history and the beautiful interior that still welcomes worshipers today. It's easy to reach when walking around Dublin. We actually passed it several times during our stay, and the cost to get in is pretty cheap. It's also included if you have the Dublin Pass. The audio guide (included) was informative and interesting, though I found the pamphlet they handed out to have all the necessary info for a quick walk through. It was founded as a Roman Catholic cathedral, but now is the national cathedral of The Church of Ireland. There are active services here, and we watched one get set up while we were finishing our tour. Seems like a beautiful place for a service. With its famous history, you really can't miss at least stopping by for a quick view. If you have time, I'd recommend the audio tour or staying for a service. There's also the burial place of author Jonathan Swift that adds an extra bonus to this tourist site.

Along with St Andrew's Church on Westland Row, the Pro-Cathedral is one of the finest modern church buildings in the city centre. The Pro-Cathedral is a fine example of a church built in the Classical Greek style, with large Doric cloumns on the inside as well as outside. The Pro-Cathedral was built early in the 19th century, and is modeled on the church of St Philippe-le-Roule in Paris. St Mary's Pro-Cathedral would not be the most frequented tourist attraction in Dublin, located off the beaten track as it is, but it only a minutes walk from O'Connell St, and it should definitely be part of your itinerary if you are visiting Dublin and old churches are your thing. I prefer the Classical style of St Mary's to the medieval Gothic of Christchurch or St Patrick's Cathedrals personally, and best of all, the Pro-Cathedral has no admission charge, whereas the other two have.

However, such a flagrant symbol of Taigism was judged unwise, what with the Penal Laws and all their attendant imaginative punishments, so it was built on Marlborough Street instead. From the outside, its most distinguishing feature is its sea-green dome, whereas inside it is a mix of Greek and Roman architectural styles, (more white marble statues than you can shake a crosier at), beautiful stained glass and an amazing panelled ceiling - the inside of the dome. Strangely, the name doesn't mean that it has professional cathedral status - in fact, it isn't officially recognised as a cathedral at all.

The interior is both expansive and beautiful, with colored tiled flooring and separated areas with baptismal fonts and altar areas. I found the history fascinating. The church still holds services, and in the past, has been used for filming television episodes and movies. In the crypt, i saw some wardrobes worn by the characters. However, I'm still struck by the date on a foundation stone for an earlier structure on this site, protected by plexiglass at the gift shop, is around 1,030 AD! The United States of America, where I live, is only 250 years old!! MISC While not free, the fee to go inside was affordable. Today, Dublin's Christ Church Cathedral draws hundreds of thousands of visitors a year. An important relic in the Christ Church Cathedral is St. Laurence O'Toole's heart. St. Laurence O'Toole is the Saint of Dublin so the relic is nicknamed the heart of Dublin.
