You'd be remiss to drop by the sights of Dublin and not take this in, storing it in your memory for one of the glories of the city. I had a blast reading all of the reviews on it... brings back a lot of memories, and makes me re-appreciate all that I took in.... My Hongkie (from HK) cozzes were educated to the highest echelons at Trinity, and a few even became lecturers and joined the faculty. Visiting them, they knew that I would appreciate sights celebrating faith, and so they pushed me to head over...awww.. so thoughtful. Trinity Chapel, designed by Sir William Chambers in 1798 purposely imitates the Examination Hall that sits opposite. The examination hall's interior furnishings and plasterwork for example are considerably simpler whilst the Chapel retains more elaborate features. With three majestic, large windows ring-shaped at the top together with Michael Stapleton's refined ceiling plasterwork set around half moon shaped windows affording the chapel a comfortable light subtle enough not to appear too dazzling during the day but instead understated to correspond well to the soft ambience a chapel normally exudes and a gallery at the south end that includes an superb example of Irish organ case design, Trinity chapel is a subtle mishmash of historic upholding in addition to a functioning place of worship. The chapel has maintained its long-established layout of oak pews facing each other across the aisle that runs down the middle, a feature I personally find very endearing and affords the congregation a better view of the choral singers. Check the notice board outside of the Chapel upon your visit to Trinity's campus to see what mass times are and whether there are any choral concerts being performed during your stay. As the only chapel in all of Ireland to be shared by all denominations you are able to commemorate your own faith within this chapel regardless, even more incentive to step inside. Choral concerts are typically very pleasant as the choir is always successful in creating evocative sounds that loiter in your consciousness for some time after and attending one of these musical recitals also gives any tourist an indication of the type of pastimes that take place in the university. read more
