After a few weeks with Richard, our great Dane came back with boundaries and understanding commands. Richard spent time again with us so that we had the tools to maintain what he learned. Richard establishes a relationship with the dogs. He's very straightforward and honest. And he offers continued assistance. We highly recommend.

First off, Richard is a passionate and talented man, it's easy to see from the moment you meet him; Richard does what he loves. Second, he speaks dog... like direct communication, but what's cool is before I knew it, I was communicating with my babies even better. He was teaching me to talk to the dogs the whole time and I had no clue. Third, he inspired me! It is not often you meet somebody with the courage to walk away from every comfort they know to pursue something they love. Richard listened to what I wanted to do, I wanted to strengthen the bond between myself and the dogs. I already see a difference, they do too. I've worked with several trainers in the past and never felt a comfortable, or confident connection and neither did my dogs. I don't know who's more excited about our next lesson, me or the dogs. I can tell you there's more to come. If you want to get to know your dogs better and really strengthen that bond, call Richard. I assure you; you won't have any regrets.

But my golden loved going but he would constantly be soaking wet when I picked him up and I finally asked him why is he wet if he's indoors and they said he plays in the dog bowls and I asked them if it was possible to redirect him from not getting wet and they told me if I wanted that then he can play by himself. I also ended up getting my dogs vaccines done by a friend who owns a boarding place in wellford and then they would not let me take my dog back because it wasn't a vet that gave it to him but I had the vaccine file and proof and though I understand their concern- how the owner handled it was so rude. Basically told me it wasn't her problem that I can't bring him anymore. Good thing he won't ever be back anyways. And to add in a grooming tip- my golden had matted ears from playing so much in the water they let him play in every day - that he was getting yeast infections. I asked them to groom his ears and they shaved his ears. SHAVED THEM. He's a golden. My heart was shattered to see them mess up his coat like that. Definitely do not recommend.

He was dangerous due to his severe anxiety and size, and we were terrified that we were going to need to find a new home for him. We have a baby and had to create separation of the living spaces due to the safety risks, but Larry helped us bring more unity back into the home, SAFELY. He provided us with the tools we needed to gain control again of our situation, where we can all share a happy living space now. We have been able to curb a lot of our dog's anxiety by being confident in our commands, so our anxiety has lifted too. Larry also helped us with something we never thought possible: our other dog is now safely able to go on walks without trying to kill other furry babies. :) It is nice knowing if we ever have any questions or have any setbacks, Larry is there to help us work through it. Thanks, Larry!

They do not need a trainer who basically seems uninterested and won't even touch them. He's going to come with a nice checksheet, let you do the work, and it's pretty much what every single trainer on youtube will teach you. Again as nice as he is, even in his response here, know I think most people don't give him a bad review because he's a nice old guy. If you have a larger dog, a breed that is known to be head strong, or both, do not waste your money. There's only one larger breed dog trainer in the area and they are not as convenient and far more expensive. There's also a trainer that specializes in large breed dogs that trains with online sessions that work better. Two of his sessions will cost you about the same as what Larry charges but you'll get training that actually works. Sorry Larry, but feel you really need to be honest that you're not experienced or successful with larger breeds. My best friend's husband's friend had the same issue, and she asked him to review also as he expressed the same frustration. But I can't speak to his story other than as point to you to either learn more about working with larger dogs or be honest with future customers up front that you don't want, like, etc to work with them.

We finally made the decision to go through a breeder and began extensive research. We reviewed every breeder within a 4 hour driving distance of Charlotte. Temperament was most important, followed by size and cost. We originally set a budget of $1,500 but quickly reaalized that kept us in the backyard breeder category. Don't get me wrong. We visited one of these breeders and her new puppies. Her home was gorgeous and her dogs were well cared for but she lacked the proven track record we were hoping for. We spoke to a few more breeders but I wasn't happy with the inconsistency in litters. Many breeders were just breeding multiple dogs and they were coming out different sizes, with a variety of temperaments and coats. Again, I didn't want surprises. Long story short, we came upon Doosouth and although they were priced outside of our original budget we decided the extra cost was worth the quality. The things I liked off the bat: *Ed was very informative and happy to answer all of my questIons via phone. We spoke multiple times and he was always accommodating. *They've been in operation for over 13 years and breed multigenerational Labradoodles - and JUST labradoodles. *He was one of the few breeders who let us come out to meet both the mom and dad and get a peek of the pups. They hadn't had their first round of shots yet so we couldn't interact with them. *The price ranges between $1,850- 2,150. Although it's not the lowest around, it's very fair and competitive. *The kennel facility they have on their property was well organized and they seem to genuinely care about their dogs. After our initial visit we were satisfied and put down a deposit. In 2 weeks we go back to pick out and take home our new pup. Update to follow!
