My granddaughters and family have gone here weekly since they were toddlers. Now 11&16 it's still they're favorite spot to visit. Mr. Baker I believe in his 80's is the original owner. He and his family make home made delicious fudge and popcorn like you buy in Chicago the absolute best! He has an old timey theme with stick candy and all sorts of variations you weigh or you can buy prepackaged candy too. I wanted to like this place.... Looks like it is owned by a cute older couple which is so cute. However I did not like any of the chocolates I got here. Flavorless, or super artificial. The lemon flavor in my $4 chocolate let an evergreen kind of flavor that lasted forever. Also the overall selection was so small. Of course we came 20 minutes out of our way to try it so had higher hopes. Two stars for the cute family feel, otherwise just one star... I won't be back. read more

Mr. Baker is the best. This place isn't flashy or shiny. More like an old Timey candy shop. Stick candy, rock candy, salt water taffy, truffles and fudge. Plus all the modern favorites like gummies. I love this place! I don't go very often as it is a little out of the way for me but every experience I've had there was wonderful. The owner is very nice and the cheese popcorn is my favorite. I have always loved this candy shop since I was a kid and the owners are so sweet. One thing I suggest is calling before you go. I told my son I'd take him here for the first time after school today and made sure to check hours online first. Right as we pulled up they were locking the door, I'm assuming for lunch. My wife and I love this place. We go here about once a week. Our favorite is the maple fudge absolutely delicious. The truffles are amazing and so is the popcorn. Our favorite place to get something sweet! Also the man that works here is just so nice and he knows how to have customers coming back. I went to work with some of this fudge and popcorn and then came back the next day with a huge order from all of my fellow employees. I heard about this place from some foodie friends who raved about it and I told my husband. He surprised me on Valentine's Day with a box of hand-picked dark chocolate truffles that were huge.
