Just completed my 3rd consecutive challenge and have a total weight loss of 70lbs. This one was the hardest yet - it seems the closer you get to your goal, the slower the weight comes off. Plus, it gets harder to follow the eating plan because the cravings for food not on the plan seemed to be really strong this time. Just hold steady and aim for the goal and it will work out. I think they have a really good group of supportive trainers who all desire to help everyone. The workouts are right on, sweat inducing and if you really give it your all - you should feed sore the next couple of days. They do a good job at staggering the exercises from legs one day and arms the next, so that those that go 5-6 times a week get a varied workout. If you need some motivation to get active again and are looking for a safe environment, this is the place to do it! Now on to challenge #4! read more

So a friend of mine on facebook did the 6 week challenge and it motivated me to give it a try. Don't get me wrong I believe that what this place is doing is great, they want people to lose weight but of course it is a business and they make money off of people who don't make it and people who do make it and join (most lose their money from the sounds of it). I went in and asked to read the contract and after reading it I decided that I would do the two free weeks before committing to anything. First, it is advertised as "free" but you have to give a deposit of almost $500, sounds deceiving to me. Second, you are told that the 6 week challenge entails losing 20lbs and you get your money back as a refund or it can be rolled over into a membership, well, the contact states that you must be within a desired weight based on gender and height, it actually states "less than" the stated weight, if you're not under that weight then you will automatically be enrolled in the next 6 week challenge to lose 20lbs, that is what annoyed me the most, so deceiving. For example, Mary weighs 150lbs she joins the 6 week challenge and loses 20lbs she is now 130lbs but the chart states she must be under 125lbs she then is automatically enrolled in the next 6 week challenge because she didn't meet her "goal" and cannot get a refund but Mary doesn't have 20 more lbs to lose, so she will end up losing her money no matter what. Third, you are told that you must do 30 workouts in 45 days, you must check in on facebook to show proof, but the contract states you must check in 5 times per week for a total of 30, so even if you checked in 30 times during the challenge you would not get a refund unless it was 5 times per week. Fourth, at the beginning and end of each class they would advertise and "highly suggest" buying protein powders, pre work stuff and other products that they have for sell there, I was also receiving so many emails from them adversities products that I had to unsubscribe. Ok so now the classes, no one introduces you or explains how things work. If you've done boot camp clases before that's exactly what this is, boot camp. I was very turned off by an instructor who yelled at a participant for moving a piece of equipment, placing it where it didn't belong diring a workout. The class times are not great, they have morning and evening classes, nothing in between. So the memberships are $147 monthly if you're not doing the challenge and $127 of you are. Ridiculous if you ask me. Visit a nutritionist and learn how to portion and eat healthy and get a gym membership that offers boot camp classes and you will save yourself a shit load of money. read more

Ok well here I am at the end of my third and final challenge I met the goal and lost 25 pounds and here are my final results: starting weight was 284 pounds, body fat percentage was 34% my end weight was 199 pounds my body fat percentage was 18.5% after 3 challenges. What can I say that hasn't been said if you put in the work at the gym and in the kitchen you can be successful at this program. All the tools- the meal plan, support groups , workout classes, different trainers, are all there for you to use. This last round was a bit tougher than the others for me with my weight loss slowing down due to building muscle in the camp small group classes and my body not as shocked by the meal plan but I pulled it off. I think a class should be added similar to other locations as an elite class where attendees are all alumni. Nothing against first-timers but sometimes their lack of experience hinder the workouts and slow others down. Also I think a bit of coordination between the trainers can go a long way. There were times where the same moves and body parts were hit daily by different trainers which can cause possible overuse. Overall l I had a great experience at the camp and encourage others interested in improving their health to look into an info seminar, get in and do some work! read more

The Oxnard Camp transformation Center is an outstanding gym that not only offers but gives you all the tools and accountability needed to jump start your weight loss journey. The instructors were amazing ! Loved the environment and everyone seemed focused on the same goal! Creative workouts that challenge you everyday. The only reason why I did not give it 5 stars is because sometimes the customer service at the front desk was not there. There was attitude from one of the girls upfront almost every time I went. At first, my impression of this place was really good, but the second day I came, which I was looking forward to wasn't such a great experience. I was going for a trial, because I was referred by an employee about this life changing experience which I was curious about, and I went to the second day to workout after work, I referred a friend who has never heard of the place to meet me there to workout together, but the front desk Roxanne didn't let me join, because I was past the grace period on this rainy evening, so my friend and I left this place and most likely won't be returning. I'll check out other workout options that may be more flexible, too bad, I really had a good first day/workout and was really looking forward to becoming a member and joining. I was going to refer more people, coworkers and others, just really bummed and disappointed. I am incredibly grateful for the Camp Transformation Center. I have learned that things are not impossible as long as I'm willing to put in the work. The camp has helped me to realize that I was stronger mentally and physically than I ever gave my self credit for. I highly recommend the Camp to anyone who is ready to change. It is not easy but it is so worth it! I successfully finished two challenges and will start my third in January. The biggest lesson I learned is that it's okay to fail but it's not okay to quit. From being a person who absolutely didn't like to work out or even watch what I eat,signing up for the 6 week challenge was probably one of the best things I have ever decided to do. I've never been much of a gym person so coming to The Camp has helped me so so much! All the trainers are great at what they do! The trainers are fantastic. Everyone of them has their own style, music and workouts. I highly recommend the transformation camp. Sometimes it does get to full and a little tight. The other part of the challenge is the diet. The menu of items that you are allowed to eat is extremely sparce. It is not a diet that most people would continue following after meeting your goal. It would not surprise me if many people gain some weight back due to the stringent diet that they are no longer following. I had a friend that did the six week challenge and that is what motivated me to join and do a challenge as well. When I joined, i attended the orientation and listening to it, I was skeptical and not sure the challenge and classes were for me due to knee and shoulder pain that I have. So, I did decide to join and am glad that I did. The classes are fun even though I got sore from the workouts and there were some exercises that caused me pain (when this happened the trainers gave modifications to the exercises ease the pain). You weigh in every week and get to see the changes on the scale as well as get inspiration from your friends on Facebook and others at the gym. I lost weight every week, not as much on some weeks as I would have liked! At the end of the challenge, I lost 24 pounds and didn't completely follow the diet but did follow it mostly (ate a little candy sometimes, had Mexican food some, and drank on Thanksgiving and one other time). I improved the shape that I was in, lost the weight, currently weigh less than I have for the past 15 years. I enjoyed the trainers, front desk staff, and other people at the gym. I didn't talk to quite a few people, until they spoke to me but by the end of the six weeks, I felt like part of a family and had opened up to others at the gym. Succeeding in the challenge is an accomplishment that I am glad I made and would do it again if I needed too. At the end of the challenge, I liked it enough that I decided to join the gym for a year at the discounted rate that successful challengers get. read more

Doing the camp transformation, It took a lot of determination and focus. It was hard and then got even harder, but everyone can do it! You just have to push yourself. During my challenge it was a 6 week life changing experience, to where I eat healthier. I am a foodie person and therefore doing the challenge was difficult, but as long as ur commited and want that change it should be a breeze. The workouts were amazing. The only regret I have is not having joined sooner. The front desk staff and trainers are great. I hesitated to join because I've never been a huge fan of group classes. They way the classes are set up allows for anyone with any fitness level to succeed. I struggled to keep up during my first class and after 6 weeks I feel myself stronger and better able to keep up. As part of my bootcamp contract I have to provide a Review on Facebook and yelp Here's my unbiased review to The Camp TC Oxnard. I'll get right to the point, I give it 4 stars out of 5. Here's why What it is: It is a great place to get a very very good workout consistently 5-6 days a week. What I like is that once you find your rhythm you can hit that hourly slot everyday. for me I found the early evening to work the best. This is great in contrast to the big gyms that offer the class you like only 2 or 3 times a week and the schedule usually changes. So I found it really easy to get into a consistent rhythm with the schedule here. What it's not. It's not a fancy gym with a lot of amenities. You will find no hot tub here. No sauna, no childcare. no showers, Only bathrooms. Only the basics are here that are needed for your to perform your workout, Which I like. I like stripped down minimalistic gyms. I used to love Mavericks in VTA for it's stripped down appearance. I probably take off half of a star here because some people need showers to workout before work. You won't find a social scene full of faux barbie yoga pants and meat head gym rats. If you have time to socialize during the workouts your not doing them right. I can barely catch my breath let alone hold a conversation. What I did find was everyone was really cool. People of all shapes and sizes, men and women. No bad vibes, everyone was here to put in the very hard work layed out by the trainers and everyone was really really cool about it. There is a large sense of community here, and definitely encouragement from other members. The GYM The gym is a barebones gym, but highly functional for interval training, there are about 12 stations that range from exercise bike, to heavy ropes, to TRX to medicine ball with some barbell and dumbbell work. all in all for the GYM set up I give it 5 stars for the way it's set up and the way it's utilized. Even with minimal equipment you will be pushing yourself very very very hard. One thing I really like about this place that is probably overlooked and taken for granted is the sound system in this place. They have JBL speakers with crown amps, that is the best of the best folks. The Music is very clear and loud. When the trainers speak it is very clear. The one thing I hate about other gyms is sub par sound system that is turned up too loud and distorting with someone yelling gibberish into the mic that sounds like a Puerto Rican street carnival. So to hear nice clear loud music here at the Camp is a very nice and I would imagine often overlooked feature of this place. Also there are disco lights that some trainers choose to turn on. Which adds a nice touch sometimes, I guess throw in a fog machine and you could have a club... THE TRAINERS All of the trainers work your ass off. To me, all of them were friendly and seem to really know what they are doing. They are all highly athletic and perform most of the workouts as well during the class. I never got the bossy coach vibe ( which I hate) from any of them. They do shout instructions. But that's part of the boot camp regiment. And kinda motivates you to switch between exercises and interval stations. What I do like is that there is a different trainer everyday. So each trainer has a different style. Some run you to death (you know who you are Mario) some keep you at the same station for 2 rounds. All in all with the different trainers I saw a wealth of different exercises. Many nonrepeating And many I have never done before, and I am no stranger to the workout scene. THE EMPLOYEES The employees at the front counter always made me feel warm when I walked thru the door. They address everyone by first name. and seemed to try real hard to know everyone by name. Criticism Now for my criticism You have to checkinto Facebook 20 times and yelp 10 times during your 6 week boot camp as part of the contract you sign. I found this to be rather annoying, especially yelp, if you forget you can only check in when near the gym, and I live 20 miles away. But I guess I understand it's part of their overall marketing strategy. But still annoying, I'm not one to checkin to places on social media ever, like never, so if you see me checking in, it's to fufill this as part of my contract. Other things I can criticize, in the booklet it says what you can eat but not how often. For men 6 oz protein. Is that per meal or per day. To someone first starting out this could be very confusing. Also there is a simple chart that shows what food you can eat and what food you can't. but this simple chart is not very informative for someone who is just starting there journey. Fortunately for me this is not my first rodeo but there is most definitely room for improvement in this handbook. The Camp was such a great experience. From fun loving staff to butt kicking trainers. I enjoyed the simple meal plan and options and the many many hours to choose to train. From squats to dips, tire flips and hula hooping, I found the training invigorating and enjoyable. All the trainers offered something different from Kat that was the Demolition Queen; L was all about: muscle build, function, and strength; and Husan energized, core destroyer, and run for fun, there was always something to look forward to. If you can lift and squat massive amounts or cant even do a push up on you knees, this program can support you and will have you where you want in no time. I love the support and the camaraderie. With the contract from the 20lb 6 week challenge I have to write this review. The trainers at this camp are great and keep the workouts different every class. Working in the group setting is also great to help motivate you and others will give you a push when needed. When I signed up I was excited to get a meal plan like advertised but it's not a personal plan. Every person doing the challenge gets the exact meal plan and is told to eat the same amount as everyone else. Second, there is not shopping list. They give you a list of the foods you can eat and how much you eat with each meal. If you want to loose weight but arnt willing to stick to a very strict diet, the challenge is not for you. In order to win the challenge you MUST stick to the food plan to a T and drink your water!! read more

This organization is all about screwing over its members to get money. They say it is about fitness and community but it is a bunch of crap. They do not try to help you reach your goal but look for reasons to disqualify you. I successfully completed 2 challenges and asked for a break before my 3rd because I would be out of the country on my honeymoon. It would be impossible for me to meet the challenge because I would not be able to get in the 30 workouts. They told me as a "courtesy" I could take a break but I would forfeit my $500 deposit for this "courtesy". Usually when someone does you a courtesy it doesn't cost $500. Not to mention the staff isn't organized and they do not even know the rules for the challenge. read more
