You can see how unlevel the site was just by the amount of wood shims I needed to place under the stabilizers. I am currently in dialogue with the owners insurance company. Shame on you Stacy, you changed your website rules and policy information section after the date of the injury and told your Insurance company that this is what I had signed during the time of my stay. Tell them the truth. I have an actual screenshot of your old policy section. I had to have surgery for my injury, which was Called a Lisfranc injury. Now I walk with a limp that may be permanent.

Deerhead…read moreCampground obviously isn't desolate camping, but it's in a secluded enough area that many sites were open when we arrived. Normally when we go camping I don't care about wi-fi or cell signal because I'm too busy building fire pits and what not, but when we're at a site that we can't exactly just let our dogs go off and roam (because they will steal people's food... Yogi Bear Syndrome), we tend to be confined to our sleeping arrangement areas; lo and behold, we had cell signal! A+ for that. We Netflixed any time we were going to be inside for longer than an hour. The whole campground is pretty nice. We only saw about half, but it seemed to go a lot further than we ventured while pulling the camper. Each site has space big enough for at least a car and some have additional space for a camper (up to 25 feet long). The sites aren't too close together so that's nice. And most of the area is riddled with benches and a couple of fire pits. While we were here we took our dogs on a hike that followed the campsite/highway. Really beautiful and leisurely walk. There were a couple of rules to this site that you should know... 1. It's $20 to camp or picnic here for one car (a trailer or camper doesn't count as an additional vehicle)/two people any more than that and I think there is an additional fee. 2. Dogs must remain on a leash and they do have people checking. 3. Generators can't be ran past 10 PM and before 6 AM. All in all, I enjoyed this campsite for what it was and if we ever need to find a quick spot to tie us over for the night, this will be our first stop.

Deerhead is one of a handful of campgrounds near Cloudcroft, New Mexico in the Lincoln National…read moreForest. It is located just a couple of miles out of town but feels much more remote than that. The Lincoln National Forest has plenty of RV campgrounds but only a few that are suitable for tent camping, and all of them are located in the Cloudcroft area. At an altitude of about 9000' the campsites are only open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend so we were there only a couple of weeks after they opened for the season. The campsites are primitive with only chemical toilets - no electricity or running water. There is an on-site camp host who does a good job of maintaining the campground. There are two loops with some of the campsites being sheltered by tall trees. Here are a few things you should know: 1. The flat fee is $20 per day 2. The entire campground is surrounded by the highway loop, however it is elevated and not as bad as you would think 3. There is wildlife, lots of it. We stayed two nights and our campsite was not approached 4. We camped on a weeknight and there was only one other camper in the park. The camp host told us that the weekends are at capacity. I would not want to be there on a weekend because some of the sites are much too close together 5. While some reviews mention RV's there is a sign stating that the campground is not suitable for RV's. There are no pads for them and the parking spots are more suitable for cars or SUV's We liked it so much we opted to stay an extra day despite the fact that it rained all night the second night. My rating is 4-stars for the positive experience we had. I might not have been so generous if the campground had been filled to capacity.

It's a run down barn building, wider than deep, and to the left... cages. With goats, chickens, roosters, a donkey, and a camel. If there were others, they were hiding. The camel was funny, as he/she was very vocal. Trying to compete with the rooster, maybe. The barn store had a lot of canned items, jams, beets, sauces, salsas, random veggies. It housed various souvenirs as well. The young lady there was super nice, a Texas Tech student that was home for the holidays. Very neat place. If you're in this area of nowhere, it's a fun place to stop and stretch the legs, get some actual apples that are grown in the area, and pet the camel.
