It's time to thank the Northenden Markets one more time for introducing yet another awesome cupcakery into my life. I should probably be telling them off actually, as the more great cupcakes I encounter, the more I just find myself HAVING to scarf them (rude not to), and thus turning to sponge myself. But the Cheshire-based Butterfly Cupcakery is just darling, its proprietor Amy an absolute doll and the cakes? Oh the cakes...
What about a cupcake with a whipped marshmallow centre? Maybe one that resembles a Jammie Dodger or Oreo right down to the gooey jam in the middle, the shortcake biscuity-tasting outer sponge or the Oreo crumb-flecked frosting and choc chip cake both served with a mini version of their inspiration wedged on top? Or how about a light and airy cupcake laden with white chocolate frosting and a raspberry on top? They're just delicious. I snagged a box of four to take to my better half's little flatwarming and although I managed to smush them a bit on the way there (fail) they went down an absolute storm. The frosting is rich and delicious, and the cakes themselves have not even a hint of dryness to them. Mark of a good cupcake is always when the sponge is as interesting as the frosting, and these certainly ticked that box!
This cupcakery sells at the South Suburban street markets regularly, and you can also grab them for catering, weddings, parties, all that celebratory stuff. Plus they're not merely limited to cupcakes - try their banana loaf, their famous carrot cake, a slice of lemon drizzle or indeed the brownies Amy makes which don't compromise on any ingredients... Green and Blacks chocolate chips anyone? You're positively salivating, I can tell. Get involved and don't miss out on these treats. read more
