My husband and I had pulled into the parking lot to pick up our Thai food order (I'm still waiting…read moreon him as I write this review). We noticed a car's hood was smoking because the employees came out to help the woman signaling to cut off her car. I am pretty sure their shift just ended because they all seemed to be closing for the night and multiple employees walked out of the building. The lady parked her car at Waffle House and they walked over to help. Their interaction with the customer was a breath of fresh air. One of the employees gave her a ride. It was such a kind and caring interaction and the world needs more people like them! We will definitely be trying them out in the future based on this kind interaction outside of their workplace.

This place is AWESOME! I'm a bit disillusioned with the meat options at the grocery stores lately…read moreand I was on the search for some fresher cuts of meat. In particular, I wanted to buy some oxtail! I called The Butcher Shop to see if they had any and the guy who answered the phone was so kind and patient. He took the time to answer all of my questions. They do sell oxtail for $16.99/lb. I arrived to the store and to my surprise, they have beef bacon! I LOVE BEEF BACON. It's so hard to find it now a days, but when I do find it I definitely treat myself! I can't wait to cook it for breakfast tomorrow. Highly recommend The Butcher Shop and I'll be back soon!

A small operation with that home town flavor, not to big to serve, small enough to care. I like their mild sausage, rib-eye steaks, pork jowl, and frozen domestic catfish fillet. In fact, the idea of Dexter Meat not catering has apparently become quite a touchy subject when the suggestion teasingly came up last year for one of our more passionate steak lovers. The steaks are truly monstrous sized and incredibly delicious. And of course you have the standard sides like mashed potatoes and salad, which are well-done too. Some people at work have begun to bring their own take home containers to this yearly event because the portions are huge, but it's absolutely too delicious to waste. They have truly great quality meat.

That's why when I finally reach the end of the cycle and I take them to the butcher, I want to get as much for my efforts as possible. For the last few years we have been getting less and less meat back from Yoders and it's not a coincidence or an error in calculating weight. I know how much my hogs weigh, and I know how much final meat one hog will produce, I've been at this for 20 years. The last time I took (two) 225 pound hogs to Yoders and I got a whopping 125 pounds of meat back. That's a loss of 325 pounds on the hoof. Some of that was bone, fat and head, but NOT 325 POUNDS WORTH. I will not be coming back here again and I think someone should look into where all this meat is going.

It makes for a good pit stop for travelers on the Florida-Georgia Parkway although I suspect they do a killer business with the folks drawn to the recreation opportunities on Lake Blackshear and at Georgia Veterans State Park. We travelers are just icing on the cake. The current location is a new building they built and moved to a few years ago. On the south side of Warwick you can see the original wood frame store building still hanging in. Their second location is now occupied by another business trying to imitate them and get some of their business. I am just fine with continuing to stop at Stripling's.

So we've passed by here a few times and we just missed it before closing time so on this last adventure we made sure we would make it and let me say I'm stoked we did! They have a grocery side of the store that has a ton of canned and jar goodies along with some super random stuff like that blooming onion kit I bought which I couldn't be more stoked to use sooner than later! Then comes the meat area where you can find a ton of seasonings, sauces, and the meat where they have mostly pork products but also a decent selection of other meat as well! So we bought some sausage patty's, some ground jalapeno cheddar sausage, and some of the snack sticks to enjoy on the ride home and I must say the sticks were super yummy my favorite being the garlic Parmesan one but the real kicker here is that ground sausage that is definitely some of the best sausage I've ever had it's packed with flavor and just hit the spot! We without a doubt will be back here again in to pickup what's totally yummy next time I just know to make more freezer space at home because they have just too much good stuff to pass up!
