After my son's first introduction day at Lead Mine Mathnasium, he loved it! He wanted to stay longer. Said he had fun! It's been 4 months now and he scored above average on his first math EOG earning a 5. Leo and Jeff have been very helpful in addressing my concerns when I see my son's completed homework for school. They follow up on his weak areas and definitely gave him the confidence he needed to move forward. Now my son knows he can do better and is reaping a bountiful summer for his great grades. The tutor at Mathnasium tried 3 different approaches and found the one that clicked with my daughter. In 3 months, she went from failing to honor roll in math. When my younger daughter had the same problems in math, I signed her up for math tutoring 3x a week. I assumed that she would have the same success in the same time period. The math tutors showed me how Younger Daughter's challenges were very different than Older Daughter's challenges. These tutors have such patience! They kept working and working with her and never let on how frustrating it was to explain the same concept repeatedly. I knew that I couldn't do the same tutoring at home. They kept her interested in learning and never gave up on her. After a year of tutoring, my daughter finally, finally understood what they had been talking about and her math grades have been increasing ever since. Even before her grades improved, her frustration was reduced. The tutors are so encouraging and they have different ways of approaching the problem. The tutoring is also geared to her level so she doesn't feel left behind or the "stupid one" because all classwork has to stop because she needs yet another explanation. My daughter would jump out of the car and bounce into math tutoring. What better recommendation for a math tutoring than the happy face of my daughter? The first time I took the course our instructor couldn't answer any questions and told us we didn't need to read the manual but to study the exam prep book, 94% of the class failed. Second time (free repeat) we had a wonderful instructor and she encouraged us from day one to study the textbook. I just PASSED the course and am now preparing for the State exam

I watch her grab her work off the shelf when she walks in the door and when she sees me in the parking lot she waves from inside and CONTINUES to work. When she comes out she will share things she's learned that day. Tutoring was necessary because she's starting high school next year and she has been behind in math for a few years, she has worked herself to the bone in school, attending tutoring afterschool and on weekends IN SCHOOL but never off campus. As a last resort I decided to enroll her in a paid tutoring class. I wish I had just gone in this direction years ago, it would have saved her a lot of struggle.
