It's the perfect little hut, situated just outside of Bala town, with its own dock and excellent views of Bala Bay. Unfortunately, none of these ice cream places ever seemed to be open in the middle of the summer at the height of cottage season. Until The Scoop. Purchased last year by a local college student and her brother, the hut received an adorable Canadian facelift -- red, white and brown paint -- revamped signage and a new life. The siblings take turns working each evening, greeting customers and proudly scooping delicious, Ontario-based Kawartha brand ice cream. A tiny Swedish berry in lieu of a cherry on your scoop is their quaint signature. We're *so* glad they've set up shop in Bala and wish them the best of luck for continuing success; cuz nothing beats grilling your dinner al fresco followed by a boat ride to town for frozen dessert.

The place only has street parking and you have to enter and walk through a tiny alley to get to the entrance which is located at the back of the building. They had friendly staff and a variety of different ice cream flavours. Their regular 1 scoop ($4) cone was huge and you have the option of getting it in a cup. I got the butter pecan and it was delicious! Their seating is only outdoor and minimal (only 3 picnic tables) located at the entrance of the establishment. I would totally recommend if you're near by the area!

There is a nice seating area outside which is super hip looking with pink and grey painted walls. There is also adequate benches and chairs outside for you to sit and enjoy the ice cream with friends. In addition to selling ice cream, this place also has a small market inside where they sell what looks like merch and random nick nacks. We were not able to see or experience the market as we went here close to closing time, but it looks pretty cool.
