While I was in Maine, I wanted to travel to the northern portion along the Canadian border. Hotels are few and far between where I was looking to go, so I found this Inn on TA (all excellent reviews). The price was AMAZING (only $85.23 for Oct. 11, 2013), so I made my reservation. When I arrived, I was in love. It is a beautiful, 100-year-old home that is filled with so much charm and warmth. It had these gorgeous hardwood floors and was decorated with cool antiques like old phonographs and, of course, old irons. You look around at all these beautiful things as if you were in a museum. The house is very welcoming - like your own home would be, only better! The Innkeepers, Kate and Kevin, are exactly what you would expect of people who live in Maine; they were nice, and friendly, and beautiful, and were very interesting to talk to. When I was led upstairs to my room, I could not believe my eyes (right away, I realized I had made a mistake in only staying for one night). I wanted to live there forever. My room had a big, queen bed, and there was a twin bed on the other side of the room. There was a private bathroom (all the rooms have private bathrooms for spoiled Americans such as myself). The bathroom was very spacious with wonderful, fluffy towels and a nice shower (no tub, just shower). The room was beautifully decorated with more antiques. I loved everything from the furniture, to the glass doorknobs to the windows! When I crawled into that bed at night, I could have sworn that those delicious sheets had been ironed; I have never experienced such comfortable bedding! My room and bathroom were immaculately clean, as was the rest of the Inn. On the second floor (where all the rooms were) there was a little sitting area with a frig and books and other things you might find yourself needing. It's a nice little area to just go in and curl up with a book. The next morning I woke up to the aroma of the most amazing breakfast. There were other guests there too, and everybody sat at a big table and talked and enjoyed this marvelous breakfast that had been prepared for us by Kate. She uses real china, and real coffee cups! There were muffins, any kind of cereal, wonderful scrambled eggs, toast with jam, coffee, a big variety of teas, etc. - you definitely do not come away hungry. It was such a lovely experience. I live in a very fast-paced city where it is hard to find nice people There's too much traffic, too many people, too much trash, too much of everything. When I visit a town like Caribou and meet people from other walks of life, I am enchanted. Visiting this wonderful town, and staying in this Inn makes me want to move to Caribou and live like they do; it made me see life from a different perspective. Unfortunately, my time was up and I had to leave. If I ever find myself in the northern-most area of Maine again, I will most definitely stay here again; but, next time, I will stay much longer - if they will have me. I loved the innkeepers and their beautiful, warm home. Can you tell I loved it?! p.s. There is good free wi-fi and plenty of free parking. No TVs in the rooms, but you won't want one.

We did leave a note for the front desk to give it to the owner. We visit our family once - twice per year but we will never recommend this dirty .. nasty place. Choice hotel customer care has to step in and they were amazing. They documented every phone call, conversation and put in all the remarks from both end. It took us like 30 something phone calls and almost a month for our 2 nights out of 4 nights for our refund. Empty promises by quality Inn management team but thank goodness for choice hotel staff for stepping in. Please do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. Will never have our business ever. We checked out on the 10/20/2024 and they charged our credit card on 10/26/2024 .. this is fraudulent!!! But they somehow did a credit back to the card so it disappeared of the statement but I was able to snap a picture for our future reference. The customer service and the front desk were very unprofessional and rude. They don't care about the customers at all. The room is filthy and the chair and sofa were very dirty and the toilet has shut stains and they claim that the room is clean. Gross all around especially the breakfast room!

They're hot tub doesn't work no outside entrances to the rooms all pet rooms on the second floor so no upgrades if you have a pet. All you get is a standard room smells like poop. They have one vending machine for drinks if you want to bag of chips you have to buy them from the counter 45 g bag( Halloween trick-or-treat size) for $2 that's on real if they're already charging you close to $200 don't you think that they would have a reasonable price and size on the bag of chips. There is no restaurant. But a free waffle breakfast that you have to make in the morning whoop whoop. There is no bartender here tonight so no drinks. Also they charge my credit card the same night instead of in the morning so I could not add anything to it, cannot make any phone calls or they have to charge my credit card again which this was their mistake you never charge someone's credit card unless they ask you to, until the next morning. I usually like to pay cash in the morning. This is so unprofessional. So I asked for receipt but wouldn't even give me a receipt. If you charge me you need to give me receipt . she said it wouldn't be ready until morning well then my card isn't ready to be charged until I get a receipt. Also I noticed cracks in the walls that they need to have fixed. I am not a happy customer. I recommend the comfort inn. now it's 38 minutes from the best western under $80 a night and pets stay for free. They offer raspberry, blueberry, and apple this time around and they never disappoint! The maple syrup is local and the yogurt is from across the river in Canada. Everything is super fresh and always delicious! Highly recommend staying here any time of year, but especially great in the winter time as you can bring your snow mobile and park right out front and drive down Main Street to the trails after a hearty breakfast! Don't forget they also have a full bar and restaurant as well from 4-9 in the evening. The smoked Old Fashioned is amazing and made generously with a proper Luxardo cherry & dehydrated orange peel. They also have season drink specials that were equally tempting. For dinner, the scallops fettuccini with broccolini were perfection and not gritty. Service here is always warm and friendly, as well as quick and efficient! The ambiance is a lovely little upscale pub. Everyone here is delighted that you came and remembers you even if it was last year. This is why we come back year after year and will be back again!

From WWII to 1992 Caribou was a thriving community neighboring Loring Air Force Base. The base was home to a large contingent of B-52 bombers and their supporting units. Literally, almost 12,000 Airman and their families called Caribou home. The economy was robust, the outlook optimistic, with a pride in their Air Force Base and jobs abundant. It was one of Reader's Digest best little cities in the US. In 1992, it all changed with the order to close Loring Air Force Base. In no time all but one car dealership closed, houses deserted & foreclosed, and a loss of a significant piece of the population. Most businesses failed. Somehow CICC froze in time and made it through. With that in mind CICC is a spotless friendly hotel. It boasts a large pool and hot tub. The restaurant is among the best in town and offers a breakfast sandwich or oatmeal for free or $3.00 off any breakfast item. The breakfast items are hot fresh and delicious. The rooms are large with king size beds-albeit the beds are on the hard side. There is a small fridge and a smaller new flat screen TV. Sadly, there is no Microwave. Our non-smoking room backed up to the indoor dome area with the pool-with the HVAC drawing air from the dome area. We could always smell the chlorine, though it was not overwhelming. I do recommend a room backing up to the outside. The room was very quiet. Also, the AC unit ran 24 hours a day. The auto function did not work or was disabled. Our stay was nice and the best that can be expected in Caribou. There are multiple conference rooms available and a large area next to the pool which must be for weddings. One weird thing is music is piped into the pool area 24 hours a day. Mostly early eighties genre with one hit wonders. There is a first rate gymnasium free to all. Anyhow, we love the people and like the hotel. It is the only decent game in town. Also, if you like the 1992 motif this is the place for you. 3-Stars and worth the stay.
