The blanket is some kind of synthetic "quilt" -- and doesn't warm well. Thermostat only went so far. Solution? Down coat and vests piled onto the bed. Breakfast was really good. Plentiful. I stay at Hampton Inns at least twice a month all over the US. This particular Hampton Inn is one of the best. I don't recall the last time I gave a hotel a 5 star but they are truly deserving. Their customer service is the best by far, even with breakfast staff as I was greeted each morning. The room and the property was nice as well. Beware of staying at this hotel. Website redirects you to a third party and they overcharge you for a room that you do not want. I had to pay for a second room and stay in it as the front desk was unhelpful, unapologetic, rude and deceptive. In calmly voicing my concern I was told I would be escorted from the property. First of all I want to preface this review with the simple fact that we are talking a hotel in Preque Isle, Maine and I was not expecting much of anything on my road trip for work. I will tell you, this hotel was the bees knees. They were super friendly, the hotel accomodations were clean and new and nice. The room was exactly as I booked online and they treated me like royalty at the desk because of my HH Honors that I was rocking. The breakfast that they served I was expecting a muffin or a fruit like I have had at many other international breakfasts. This spread had everything from ham and eggs, bagels, toast, muffins, sausage, cereal, fruits, and 5 different types of coffee served piping hot on a cold blustery Presque Ils morning being spent with the mooses (or would that be meese? I had booked my stay on Expedia with a split rate, which would require you to check out and then check in and potentially get a different room. The girl a the front desk quickly changed my booking so that I wouldn't have to go through that hassle, which was awesome. I have always gotten excellent service at Hampton Inn and this location was no exception to that. My room was comfortable and had everything I needed. I really liked that the shower was a stall with doors and not a tub with a curtain because the tubs make a huge mess. The complimentary breakfast is excellent, with a good variety and very, extremely hot coffee. My only complaint about the breakfast was the fruit salad-- it had a ton of grapefruit in it and grapefruit is just terrible. read more

I love Hampton Inn anywhere! Upon arrival, there was a great parking spot and almost no one there. We were in town for work, and the check i process was incredibly easy. Since we will be staying here every other week, the front desk attendant suggested for us to get a standing reservation. We asked about the visitors center, and was told it wasn't much. I really wanted a souvenir for my scrapbook, so the attendant GAVE ME A POSTCARD. The pool was heated, the rooms were clean and ready and the breakfast was great! I highly recommend staying here if you need to stay anywhere in Or near Presque Isle. The staff went above and beyond for us. They were all super friendly and talked with us. One of the nicer hotels in Northern Maine. There's free WiFi, a heated pool, guest laundry, free breakfast and the beds are comfy. The staff is nice and attentive and they will give you complimentary toiletries if you forgot to pack something. There's also complimentary breakfast which is decent. Some nights, they provide free dinner. During my stay, they served corn chowder with crackers. read more

Great place to stay while in Presque Isle. Brand new, built in summer 2009. It's just like most Hilton chains but there is no restaurant. They have a small pool and workout room, as well as a big breakfast/bar area. The breakfast is typical hotel food but it has a small hot portion. They also have free salad/soup on some nights and a cash bar. The biggest draw is how new and clean it is. Housekeeping is efficient and it feels like coming back to a (nicer) version of home. There are big fluffy comforters, couches in some of the king rooms, walk-in showers, and flat screen tvs. read more

This is definitely the nicest place to stay in the area. The hotel is new, clean and set up well. My room was large and the layout was functional. I stayed here for two nights, and it was very quiet despite regular traffic in and out. The fitness room is adequate, and though I didn't use the pool, it looked nice and inviting. The breakfast is quite good, and all items were fresh and refilled as needed and the coffee is good. They offer pretty standard hotel breakfast fare, however the food/ breakfast area was cleaner and more inviting than most. This is the only place I have ever stayed that has offered complimentary (and yummy) soup and salad in the evening, which, for a light eater, will save you dinner money! The staff was friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make me comfortable. For the money, it doesn't get much better than the Hampton Inn, Presque Isle. read more

I just checked in and I'm horribly disappointed! I reserved a deluxe suite with a full kitchen and paid extra for the upgrade. Not only did I get the teeniest room imaginable, but they told me that they don't have deluxe rooms at all and that I get what I get. No apologies or anything. Just poor customer service. They also don't have their pool open, which was one of the reasons we chose this hotel. It's hard to be traveling with 5 year old and a mobility limited husband, and they put us on the second floor, meaning having to maneuver extra with all of our special needs. Just utterly disappointed in the way we got treated at check in. There's time to improve, and I'll be updating this review after our stay is completed. But OMG, as a former Hyatt hotel manager, I'm genuinely horrified that this is what the Hilton brand represents! read more

I give this review based solely on how we were treated upon arrival by Holly, the "manager on duty". My husband is a Hilton Diamond Member, so had booked our room using points and pay. We arrived on Thanksgiving to stay for 2 days with our children (10 and 6). We drove up from New Hampshire to be with his father, who is not well, for the holiday. Holly gave us a room with 1 king bed. We went back down to the lobby where we were told they could give us a cot. When I said that would not fit 2 children, I was told that that was all that would fit in there. I asked about a room with 2 beds and was told that her "hands were tied" and that "there is nothing I can do". My 6 year old looked at me and said, I'll sleep on the floor mommy, it's ok". My husband, who could not believe this, called Hilton Honors to get it straightened out. He has been a Diamond Member for 15 years and has NEVER dealt with someone like Holly. While he was on the phone I asked the manager if she could use her "managerial discretion" and fix this. I was told flat out "no" and she continued to repeat that her "hands were tied" and unless she heard directly from Hilton, she would not make any changes. You might be thinking the hotel was full, but that was also far from the case. And while she acknowledged that the hotel was empty, she remained firm that she could do nothing. While my husband talked to several different people at Hilton, they finally called her, to which she told them "I already talked to my manager and was able to get this worked out". I could not believe my ears. Was she serious? Why had she not bothered to tell me? Once off the phone, she walked around the counter, handed me the key cards and said "my boss said we could make this accommodation this ONE time". First of all, she, Holly had it wrong, my husband had made the reservation correctly and, Hilton could not figure out the problem on Holly's end either. Things did not need to be this hard or this upsetting. Have we lost the ability to think to about our customers, to do the right thing? Even IF it had been our error, could she have not made the small accomodation from a king bed to 2 queens? It wasn't like we were asking for a suite or something. Just a place for our children to sleep as well. The reservation clearly said 2 adults, 2 children. I'm sure this goes without saying, but we will never make the mistake of staying at this Hilton again. read more

The management of this place is a rigid DISASTER. They have implemented a 48 CANCELLATION POLICY AND ARE UNBENDING. I had to cancel about 24 hours out and found out then that Hampton Corporate had instituted this policy. I have been a Diamond level Hilton Honors client for YEARS and get this kind of treatment?!! Priceline gave me a king room, asked at the desk on arrival to get changed to a double queen, I was told they didn't have any more queens available.... but I could have rented one on the website for the same night after I checked in. Parking lot had 10 cars in it. In the morning the parking lot is less than half full. read more

They have been around forever and have had no updates! Shoutouts to amazing staff: Shelly: every morning at breakfast she was so happy and a delight to see when you first get up! Kept the place so clean and would help you get anything you needed. Brandie: front desk.. Every night when my 15 month old was running around she was very nice! Happy and always cheerful! Mike: not sure what his exact role is but he seemed to do everything!!! Super nice guy and extremely hard worker! Saw him there every day keeping the place spotless! Taking out garbage delivering things to rooms.. You name he was on top of it! Hannah: she was the bartender who would come during the week from Monday to Friday with a cash bar!! Such a sweet and nice girl. She even made a reservation for me at a restaurant. Was so helpful with the kids and helped with tables and everything!! Great little treat having her downstairs when you don't expect there to a bar and even had decent wine! (Hard to find in this town) Kathy: housekeeping. Cons: I was there Monday to Friday. I have a 15 month old, I really needed the floors vacuumed every day. When I ask for the room to be cleaned they would tell me that they had to clean the rooms that check out first. My daughter would nap from 1-4 and that was the only time they could actually "come in to clean" so I only had my room vacuumed once and that was on Thursday. Needless to say I was on the floor every night picking up Cheerios etc.. And we had the 1 br suite so it was a large room. But they would give me towels and take out trash when I needed it. read more

Great place to stay. Rooms were nice and breakfast was good. Everyone was friendly. Had one room decide to smoke pot inside for a few days making our living area and hallways horrible. This hotel is a bit pricey for Presque Isle, but my fiancé and I agreed, it was worth it. The rooms are very clean. Duvet covers are washed with every stay, which is something that every hotel should do. The bedding even has that freshly-washed light bleach smell when you get into bed. Trust me, it's a nice smell...even if you're not a clean freak. The room was spacious and tasteful with a large bathroom. No bathtub, but large shower stall. The reason that we agreed it was worth the price ($155...in the county?!) was because of the breakfast. We can easily drop $20 on breakfast for 2 of us, and this is the best complimentary breakfast we've had (excluding B&B's, resorts, etc), plus it saved us a lot of time. It was a great spread with several options, and everything was fresh and well-stocked. The service was also outstanding--that's right. Service. At a buffet breakfast. The attendant was lovely and personable, even when listening to ridiculous complaints from the Office Space Milton-look-alike saying, "there's no potatoes today? Well it's just not a meal without potatoes..." She even walked around with warm ups for your coffee. We'll be back next time we're in the area, for sure. read more

We took an extended vacation road trip that had us stay at the Presque Isle Hampton Inn for 4 nights. I have stayed at many Hampton Inns, but this was far and away the best I have ever experienced. The entire staff (manager, desk staff, housekeeping and even the custodian) was friendly, engaging, knowledgeable, and eager to make our stay great. The rooms were clean and the breakfast bar was kept fresh and stocked throughout the serving times. You could feel the staff's commitment to excellence. When I grabbed the manager to express my satisfaction, he proudly invited me to the office to show the many awards won from both Hampton Inn and their parent company. well this is the 4th time we have stayed here for Balloon festival.... This is the worst experience I have ever had here. The woman at desk was snippy and gave us a King room when I needed and ordered on Priceline 2 queen beds. We were very early on checking in around 3 PM and she said there were no other queen beds available and because we used a 3rd party (Priceline) there were no guarantees on what size beds and how many we got. Should have called us directly. Snippy... Will Never stay in this overpriced hotel again. One of us is sleeping in a chair because of this... Did not even have a cot.. the people next to us were given the same treatment as we were with using a 3rd party to book with. They had 3 people and 1 king bed for them all to sleep in with no Cots available at 3 PM.... So my advice if you need 2 queen beds you better order from them direct. And forget about a deal. read more
