I would give this place a ten star rating if I could, but Yelp only goes to five. It is a home…read morebuilt in 1833 and remodeled to capture that early American feel. The beds are comfortable and the place is kept immaculate. You really get a feel for how it much have been in the 1800s in this home. It has a rich history including the Civil War that Mary will tell you stories about. Furthermore, it's remote, so you won't hear road noise and in the wintertime you can see the Osage River. It's just a wonderful place. Mary is just a wonderful person and she made our wedding just fabulous even when the caterer fell flat on their face. She set everything up when Hy Vee was supposed too. We had a small wedding and stayed at the B&B for 4 days in which Mary just make you feel at home the whole time. There is plenty of parking for a large wedding and it's perfect for that quaint wedding that we had too. I just can't say enough about The Colonel Bolton Home. I'll end by saying that you can use this place as a B&B, Corporate Event, Wedding, or any other larger event as she has a large facility out back. I will guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

However you're in the middle of Missouri where grapes don't generate like traditional regions, and palettes are different. This is more of an event space with wine as an afterthought as evidenced by the gaggle of sororities and moms funneling in all day. Frankly, I was appalled at the event I attended for my daughters sorority. Everyone bought a $25 bottle of sweet or semi-sweet wine (that's this wineries specialty), dropped in a straw, and suckled their sippy cups. Their sweet wines are like wine coolers - and what college student doesn't like those? That should give context to the quality of wine and positioning of this space). Their traditional varietals all have sweet or fruit forward notes - Cabs are more like Pinots but lacking the depth and notes of a true spicy, bold cab. Past this, parking is like a festival, down a dirt road about a quarter mile walk from the front door. While I wouldn't return, it's a great place for an event and provides something unique to the area. And obviously the Greek system utilizes as a more sophisticated approach to the bars in Columbia.
