Ha ha well now, this is another one of those pubs where finding fault is a tricky business. I'll be honest..in over an hour (and two beers) in front of their roaring and spitting fire, I could not find any. I drank the local 'it creeps up on you' beer Gambit, and another pint I fail to recall. Good beers (I remember that much). Good crowd, in the end an amazing pub!. A proper old fashioned pub with an actual atmosphere, no juke box and TV only for Rugby! Lots of hand pull and traditional ales, including their own Micro Brew. Friendly welcoming atmosphere, staff are always willing to help and offer advice on their wide range of beers. The only downside, and it's a minor niggle, is that the carpark can get very full! Oh yeah, you won't get bothered by loads of mobiles going off either as it's geographical position results in no signal! read more

An amazing place that has a warm sense of welcome... As two tired travellers we felt like this place was a haven of good, resourcing energy. Family-run place making its own delicious craft beer ("brick") and serving such natural, simple food that it made us feel like we were being taken care of at home.
