This shop made me think of those days. Sans artistic magazines and a blind barber. I walked in on a late-Friday afternoon and there were two stylists available. It worked out that Amy cut my hair and did a great job. She's very precise and thorough. I'll add she creates a very well-developed rapport with clients and has the ability to make one feel comfortable. The owner came in for a minute while I was there, I didn't personally meet him, but was told he is a barber with much experience. He also owns "Rogue Barbers" across the way--I've also had my hair cut there by Jennifer a few times and she did a great job. The owner and stylists are altruistic and oftentimes cut hair for any firefighter free of charge. We hopefully won't need so much firefighting this year, if any, but I think that's one among many good reasons to try Gillespie's or Rogue Barbers.

Her stylist was right there and never said anything not even hey will be right with you. Another stylist had to come from around the corner. Then she seemed annoyed the entire time. We showed pictures of what she wants and still didn't cut enough layers. She then asked if she wanted it dried. I have never had a haircut where they don't dry it to see that nothing needs to be fixed. I asked if she had time to style it and she was like it is an extra charge and I said that is fine. I wanted to get a perm on my very long hair. I had not cut it since 2012 when I retired. Needless to say I didn't do much with it either. Frankly it was in Very bad condition and I hated it. I had promised my husband when I retired I would let it grow, and so I did. If I tried to curl it withing 10 minutes it was straight again. So I thought maybe a perm would help. So I went to see Debbie. The poor girl spent hours rolling my hair. (look at the picture she has posted) Once done it was better, but it was so heavy it still pulled a lot of the curl out. I still hated it. I finally convinced my husband that it would look better if I had some of it cut. He agreed. However since Debbie had worked so hard and stressed out so much, I was hesitant to call her I didn't want to hurt her feelings. It wasn't her fault I didn't like my hair. She did everything right. A couple of weeks went by and Debbie called me to check up and see how I was liking my perm. (In over 50 years I have never had a hair dresser call me just to see how I liked what they had done) I admitted I didn't like like it and wanted to get it cut shorter. She was very OK with that so I made another appointment with her. I am so happy I did. I now love my hair again. It is so easy to care for and always looks great. I sure hope she doesn't plan on retiring EVER! (Just kidding) I will never go to another hairdresser as long as she is around.
