We walked in and had a old-school feel had a old-school pinball machine had small TVs on the wall jukebox playing music all kinds of cool stuff. This was 1st place open in Pepper distillery area. We're Elat in Lexington can you take a beer out to fire pit & set. They have a decent line of draft beer & really really reasonable domestic beers. This place is located in the distillery district but doesn't quite fit in with the rest of the businesses there. The place itself is pretty cool during the summer when you can enjoy the fire outside or the other outdoor seating by the creek. The inside it quite small though. Good luck getting any service, however. It's not really a great place, unless you are a regular there, it's nearly impossible to get a drink. I stood at the not crowded bar for 20minutes trying to get a drink and never got anything. The girls were more interested in shaking their butts at who I'm assuming to be 'regulars' at this place and serving them drinks. I've actually heard from several people that it's almost impossible to get a drink at this bar if you're not a regular. In my opinion, I'd much rather go to any of the other places in the distillery district or in Lexington. I just don't really enjoy the atmosphere here. I only go if someone I'm with wants to check it out, which isn't often. read more

The night we stopped in was cool and brisk, so the fire pit was just the right fit. My friends and I went there to on a Friday night after being at goodfellas. All of us are in our mid twenties but the bouncer was extremely annoying and checked all of our ID's twice. Johnny is the man, the myth, the legend, and the owner (he owns Side Bar also). I have to say this is a great location off Manchester Street. Kind of away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. It is tucked away and far enough off the road to be peaceful. There is a great view of the stream and a lot of parking. That is win win in my book. They are dog friendly which is rare in these parts. The bar and bartenders are all great. I really enjoy sitting out on the deck here and taking in nature while having an ice cold brew. It really is a great addiction to Lexington Pubs. If you want to find a place just to chill and drink, check them out. The last time I was here, they were getting ready to show a drive in movie outside on a blow up screen. I found myself in this area of town a few weeks ago when I brought some friends to Crank & Boom. After delicious ice cream, they wanted some drinks and food so we walked over to the awesomeness that is the Break Room. Totally didn't expect this sweet little spot tucked away in an industrial-like area of Lexington. What I loved: the funky garage-themed bar, the bonfires outside, the BBQ food tent, the small crowd of diverse people, all the dogs!, and the quiet location away from the busier parts of town. This isn't just a bar. It's a hang-out place. That was the vibe I got from seeing all the people sitting around the bonfire with dogs on leashes and drinks in hand. Everything was laid-back and cool. What you need to know: the parking lot is huge but terribly crowded, the drinks are your basic drinks, the building itself is tiny so probably not the best in the winter, and you may feel out of place here if you don't have a long beard or hippie clothing. I know that five years ago, I would have completely meshed with the crowd; but, as I am today -- I felt almost too old, in a different spot of life than people here. I know that's kind of judgmental (eek!!), but that's the reason I probably won't be back.... I lean towards calm and quiet places these days. This felt like a party (awesome). But I don't party much. What to expect - It's a garage themed bar with a hint of Johnny Cash meets Bad Religion. What does that mean? It means it's appealing to most types of folks. What is to drink - Well if you're coming here for a solid prohibition style cocktail...abort mission. You will find VERY basic mixed drinks and beer here. If you want a cocktail walk 100 yards over to Middle Fork in the same complex. Prices - Very reasonable at times...they don't exactly have a set price for things I have found. Sometimes a Miller High Life is $2 sometimes it's $3 or $4. No consistency but who cares, it's a bar. Parking - huge parking lot, you can fit a bus in here if you get there earlier enough. I was here opening night and have been a fan since. It's located in the Distillery district, along side of the future James Pepper Distillery rick house. I'm pretty sure that I heard that it used to be a firehouse and sat empty for some time before being purchased by the local business owner of Side Bar. If you've never been to the Distillery District, you're certainly missing out. The Break Room sits back from the strip of local hits spots including Good Fellas pizza, Ethereal Brewery, middle fork, Crank and Boom ice cream, and the recently opened Elkhorn Tavern. All of these mentioned and more to come, all share the same parking lot. You might have heard people complain about the gravel and mud of the parking lot during the first year or so, but now it's pretty much all paved now. The only issue with the parking now is that it's scarce. I highly recommend taking an Uber or Lyft, that'll solve your parking concern and it'll be a safe and sober option. They don't serve food in The Break Room, but there is usually always a food truck parked out front. And there's always Good Fellas pizza and middle fork right across the parking lot, just be sure to make your way back here, into the other world. What do I mean by that? They all have a different and unique atmosphere, and without being offensive and trying to keep it as politically correct as possible, I'll say this place has the most biker feel to it. I recently learned that there is a secret bathroom up front, near the vintage pinball machine. The other bathroom has always been sketchy and hard to unlock. There are very few booths and a few high top tables, but outside is where it's at. There's seating out front, to the side where the fire pit is and there's a desk out back. The deck over looks Town Branch, which is a running stream of water and the branch in itself is full of rich, limestone and history. read more

Truly one of the most bizarre experiences I've ever had at a bar. Two of my friends and I walked in and sat down at the bar and everyone in the place, patrons and workers, looked very bothered at us for doing so. It was like we were intruding on their evening. The bartender reluctantly served us some domestic light beers after letting us just sit there for about 10 minutes, even though there were only 4 other people in the bar. She then started shouting profanity angrily to one of the regulars, complaining about something. They then attempted to make us leave by blasting Dixie Chicks as loud as they possibly could, thinking 3 males in their 30s would hate it. But their plan backfired because Cowboy Take Me Away is just objectively a great song. Once they realized that the music wasn't making us want to leave, the bartender just yelled out "Okay the bar is closed, please get out." And that was that. I'm pretty sure this happened at least an hour before they were supposed to close. Seems like a cool little dive bar, but don't waste your time if you're not part of the club I guess. read more

I'm not a big drinker but they appeared to have a full bar witch limited seating inside but all open air and a back deck near the creek. The water was in a Gott or Igloo water cooler of sorts so that was a drag for me as it was empty and had really small plastic cups but I was only there to be social so I didn't drink anything. Laid back atmosphere, friendly bartenders, corn hole, picnic tables, food trucks and Crank and Boom nearby--not much more you can ask for on a weeknight when you want to relax with a beer around fellow adults (as opposed to younger UK folk, who tend to stay further in towards downtown). The crowd is an eclectic mix of tattooed artists, bourgeois urban family-types, hipsters, Harley-Davidson aficionados and young urban professionals after work engaged taping their own personal episode of "Girls" or "Entourage." (People watching is a lot of fun here.) Drinks are meh and slightly pricey. The Break Room is nothing I'd go out of my way for, but a place I'd be often if I lived nearby. read more

It's a super laid-back place with such a mish-mash of clientele that it's interesting just to see who shows up. I felt like I was attending a keg party down in the hills, but in a good way, not a bad way. There are plenty of places to hang around outside on all sides and just enjoy the night and some beer.
