A Quaint, Comfortable Stay in the Heart of Davao
If you're looking for a cozy and affordable boutique hotel in Davao that doesn't feel like a generic business chain, The Bourke is a solid choice.
The hotel has a warm, charming vibe, small and personal. The reception area is simple but inviting, and the front desk team was very accommodating. A small touch I liked: they had chocolate cake and a red velvet square displayed as welcome treats when I got to my room.
The room was surprisingly spacious. Ours had a big comfortable bed, a large dresser with a mirror, a work desk, and an open cabinet with shelves. There was also a coffee station and a fridge neatly tucked in on the side. The bathroom was clean and roomy, and all the essentials were thoughtfully in place. The TV was well-positioned, and while the hallways are open (not enclosed like in most hotels), the noise wasn't an issue at all, I slept soundly.
The Bourke shares space with Bondi & Bourke, one of Davao's more well-known restaurants. Unfortunately, we arrived late and didn't get to try it this time, but I've heard good things and it's run by its owner and Australian chef who's hands-on with the place. Another restaurant nearby, MamaMita, also looked interesting.
Overall, this place blends boutique comfort with good service and a reputable dining experience. Would definitely stay here again, ideally when I have time to eat on-site. read more
