This bookstore is inside the plaza with Kroger but in the corner across from it. Ample parking! I had great service and recommendations with a super cute community vibe. I'd look forward to returning. They were even open to carrying books by local authors which is nice!

The Bookshelf is the name of a small bookstore in Madeira's Camargo Station. Tucked away in the corner of the main level of the small two-story shopping center, The Bookshelf is appropriately named. The store is much smaller than any other bookstore I've been in and proportionally it is really like a bookshelf compared to a bookstore such as Barnes and Noble. Just like any bookshelf, however, there is always something good to read, regardless of the limited number of options. Whether you like fiction, mystery, or even poetry, they have most of the popular genres. They even have sections for cooking, childcare, and gardening, as well as a selection of greeting cards, puzzles and games, some large print books, and big children's. They don't have the number of books and other items that a larger store does, but they do have plenty of options and good reads. If you're looking for a good book or know someone who might like one as a gift, then it's worth checking out if you are in the area. If you are closer to a larger bookstore such as Barnes and Noble than that's probably your best bet, but if you're shopping at Kroger or any of the other nearby Madeira businesses then it might be worth your time to come in and look for something grab from The Bookshelf.

Cute little bookstore nestled in the corner!

I still can't believe this fantastic little bookshop is in my neighborhood; it seems like a dream…read more It's well-lit, clean-lined, friendly, it smells good, and every time I go in, I find books I didn't know about that I want. There are marvelous politics/history/activism books, very strong fiction, a small but remarkably up-to-date and excellent poetry selection, and sweet and unusual kids' books for my nieces and nephews. There's a lovely set of Cincinnati-focused books -- trails, walks, history. If you've got a woodworker in your family they will love the beautiful traditional woodworking books from KY press Lost Art Books. Downbound runs sales in support of good causes (get on their mailing list). It's a great addition to this city. If you don't live in Northside, come on a Saturday and eat breakfast at Blue Jay or brunch at Littlefield, check out the records at Shake It, browse the vintage clothes at High Bred and Casablanca, and pick out a book or three at Downbound; you'll have a good time!

There is a small corner of children's books, puzzles, notecards, stickers and more. While it is a small space they stock single copies so there is so much in their small space. They can also order books you are looking for. Loved finding a special signed copy of a book sold only in indie stores! The employee was helpful and conversational while we checked out. Also, who doesn't love a free bookmark with purchase!?
