They trade for credit at a better rate than other used bookstores I've known. Achtung, baby! They've got cats -- several of them, all free-roaming. One or two are meanies, and they all urinate freely, leaving that special odor to mingle with the natural moldy scent of decaying books. They did have fun literary themed drinks this visit like Butterbrew from Harry Potter and The Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland, which we tried and liked. My husband thought the brewed coffee wasn't great (lacked flavor and scorching hot) and they had no milk or cream avail on the condiment station. I do wish BM offered a kids program or free rewards program like Barnes and Noble. Most of their discounts seem to be for online or for their paid membership.

I can't believe I haven't added Bear's Bookstore in sooner. This has been a used bookstore for a…read morelong long time, but Gabby, the new owner, took over and has turned it upside down. It's the most precious little shop with floor to ceiling books. As the name and sign suggest, the head employee is Bear! The biggest, most precious dog you'll ever meet in a bookstore. He will be in shop greeting customers on occasion. Gabby does an amazing job keeping fabulous stock of books for any and all readers. I can ask her for a suggestion in any genre, and she can rattle off several. She hosts all sorts of events, local author book signings, book swaps, etc. She's SO personable and friendly. If there was ever a person absolutely meant to own a bookstore, it's Gabby & Bear. The prices are also incredible. You'll get a book for a quarter of the price at any big box store, and it very well could be brand new and fresh off the press. This shop is a much needed and much loved stop in Muskogee. Let's keep her in business forever and ever.
