Now it's set a standard for fish and chips so high that it might never be lived up to. The prices are reasonable for the quantity of food you get. We ordered an array of things - crumbed cod which was HUGE and only $6.90, battered snapper which was also a decent portion, 1 of the burgers which was massive too, a serve of calamari which not only tasted great but were cooked to perfection - not even kidding! And then beer battered chips which were super yummy too. The servings were super generous and the food was fantastic! The food was so good and so perfectly cooked that it makes me scared to go to other places in the future - which is inevitable as we're not from here... Just go here when you're in the area. The staff are super friendly too and very honest and generous. I seriously couldn't be happier and I'm a fuss pot when it comes to fish and chips (or food in general).

And we weren't the only ones - the place was jam-packed on this rainy Saturday morning and it seemed to catch the staff a bit off guard. Drawn in by the eclectic, casual vibe, the four of us found a seat at a shared picnic-style table in the very back of the restaurant, which was likely our downfall - it was nearly impossible to get the servers' attention without physically getting up and heading to the coffee bar area. But once we were able to get our orders in, the food came quickly and satisfied even the pickiest eaters among us. Nothing fancy, just some solid Aussie breakfast stalwarts with options even for those with difficult dietary requests. If you're craving that shabby chic, laid back, don't-worry-be-happy vibe with a decent breakfast to boot, this is a solid choice along Duke Street.

Unfortunately we were left very disappointed with lacklustre attention at the water level restaurant where reception was less than encouraging. At that juncture the decision was taken to move on to an establishment that understood the meaning of Service.
