La Vida Restaurant - Seafood platter for two

La Vida Restaurant

Recently under new owners and decided to try it. One reason to come but definitely a great one,…read morethe seafood platter for two. The platter is huge, with oysters (probably the best item), clams, mussels, Moreton Bay Scallops, calamari with halloumi (probably the best non-fried calamari I've ever had), prawns (huge and very tasty), shoestring potatoes and a few other things that I don't remember but certainly enjoyed. Also, given their Tasmanian roots, some of the seafood is unique to La Vida rather than what you see at the other restaurants. This platter is definitely worth one of your evenings in Noosa.

Bugs. Moreton Bay or Balmain. Shovel Nosed Lobsters. The family Scyllaridae…read more I have loved these critters for ever. Up at Noosa Moreton Bay Bugs are a joy to behold, if you can find somewhere that be holdin' them. Problem is most places want to show off with my little guys and put them in a ravioli or turn them into some kind of foam or do something weird with them so that they aren't bugs any more. Not this place. It used to be called Lindonis I think - thats probably why I am the first to review it. Fact is its been here for twenty years, but for my 200th review I am happy to declare this place serves the best bugs this side of a dirty Chinese kitchen. BBQ'd with garlic and dill butter. Thats all. And eight, yep eight of the little bottom feeders! It takes very good chef to know that the produce is the star and not the cook. I remember an old mate once told me that in French cuisine the chef is the star and in Italian the food is the star. Here the bugs are the stars. We shared a plate of crumbed calarmari and a plate of veggies, which, because this place is classy, was called a 'stack'. The calarmari was sensational, even though it looked like the sort of meal you'd get at a suburban Pizza joint. I asked why they were so good and the owner told me they were fresh caught, marinated in kiwi fruit for just long enough to tenderise them but not so long as to cook them and that the crumb was a special Japanese technique known only to direct descendants of the Samurai Emperor Bugsansei. And I believe her. Left my phone at home 'cos up here you eat in boardies - your good ones for upmarket places and your old faves for the other places. Keeno has some photos which the kids may be able to upload to this review. I shouldn't even try or I will break something.

Very disappointed by this place. We came here for a dinner, and by the looks of it, it was busy…read morewith many locals. We were seated on a small table by the door, by hey if the food is good I can overlook that. I ordered the seafood linguine and my husband had the dinner special which was 3 course for $29 he picked: the cheese bread, the chicken parm and a dessert. My linguine was just terrible: the pasta was over done, there was no flavor - like the usual garlic-butter-lemon that you would expect. There was none of that just bland mush pasta with seafood and some type of sauce. The chicken parm was a big fail as well - they had a big piece of bacon on top which was just not necessary, but the meal itself was very tasteless and just lacking. The service was just OK, nothing special and maybe a bit lacking but not terrible. All in all would not recommend.

I'm sure this is a really good restaurant normally but when we dined here it was like walking into…read moreabsolute chaos. We sat ourselves at our own table fully equipped with used plates & cups. It took at least 15 minutes before being noticed and then to order. Regardless of the chaos our breakfasts were quite fine. Bacon & eggs and I chose the poached eggs with avocado and pesto served on rye toast. Coffees were ok - keeping in mind I am used to great Melbourne coffee and the banana smoothies were yummy too. It took me about 10 minutes of waiting at the front counter to actually pay for our meals and no, I didn't leave a tip.

I've enjoyed every meal in Noosa but Sails was the best. Service was friendly and although a…read morelittle noisy great ambiance, with good views of the beach. Started with the fig salad, which was fantastic. The nutty bread that came with it was surprisingly impossible not to eat and all the flavors came together well. Had a sand crab as my main. Never had one before so not sure what to compare with but I was really impressed how flavorful it was, had a charred grill taste as well as buttery. Plentiful meat. The accompanying greens were also nice, with apple and walnuts giving it some layers. Overall, truly enjoyed this meal.

Okay let's get this out in the open...the view, it's amazing! You are right on the beach…read more Now for the rest: The location: Parking is a nightmare in the area...and you require a reservation or you wont get in. The Food: It was 'eh' at best but was priced like it had a Michelin star... a bit ridiculous. We had a starter a tempura something, which was good because let's be honest add tempura and you can't go wrong. For mains we had a seafood pasta (I'll put up a picture too) it looks amazing but the pasta was overcooked and ended up congealing into one pasta lump, the seafood was okay but not really cooked well, or rather way over cooked. They even gave me a mussel that didn't open, so you couldn't eat it, I'm paying for protein but I couldn't even eat it?!?! Anyway I'd say, while the view is stunning you would do well to go somewhere with better food and just walk on the beach for the view.
