The advertised beer special was not available, sold out, but the waitress allowed a substitution. Ordered the steak n guinness pie and was surprised that it was indeed a meat pie, not just stew topped with pastry. Disappointed that there was no steak n kidney pie. The meat pie was typical pub grub. Not a lot of choice for someone that's lactose intolerant. Bathroom was clean, the staff were friendly and efficient. I stayed on the patio except to use the bathroom. Reasonably priced, would visit again if in the area.

Had some time to kill before a show so decided to check it out. Cool little place, felt comfy and friendly with what seemed like regulars occupying the bar area. Server was friendly, a lovely young lady singing, and our drink order was taken promptly. Then it got weird. Beers took a super long time to arrive even though the bar wasn't too busy. Food order was also taken quickly and took a super long time to arrive. Servers shift was done, we paid and were told a new server would be taking care of us. That never happened. As our glasses sat empty, the Mr. went up to the bar to grab another round. For some strange reason 2 beers at the bar were almost $2 more than what we just paid. That's not cool. The nachos were really good (although $4 for the very tiny side of chili was overpriced) beer was cold, but the service was disappointing. For that reason I'm not sure if I will be returning.

Our first stop took us to Tiffany Falls, one of many in the Hamilton area. The water flow at this time of the year is fairly low but still beautiful. Our next stop was the nearby Sherman Falls, one of my favourites. This one has more flow and is more shaded. I could relax here all day. After consulting our online apps, we stopped for lunch at The Fool & Flagon pub. Our light meal consisted of a Scotch Egg, French Onion Soup, Fish & Chips, and Shepherd's Pie. The food and service were all pretty good, with generous portions. The Scotch Egg was perfectly cooked, with a nice runny yolk and crispy crust. The French Onion Soup was topped with lots of gooey cheese. The Fish 'n' Chips was ordered with two pieces of fish for sharing. It was also quite nicely done and came with a generous amount of tartar sauce, which is rare. The Shepherd's Pie was very good, perhaps one of the best I've had from a restaurant! With could food and good service, I would definitely come back to this place!

We moved to Stoney Creek in October of 2015 and we were so happy we found this place…read more On our first visit we met the owner and his parents were there as well. The food was fresh and I said at the time that it was some of the best pub food I had ever had. We turned into regulars and came back very often; usually a few times a week. In the past few months something has changed. The portions seem smaller and the food just isn't hot or well prepared. This has been our experience on our last three visits. The last time we were there we had food taken off our bill because it was really that unsatisfactory. Tonight I had the Sante Fe chicken dinner which is freshly battered and fried chicken breast tenders. The chicken was barely luke warm when it got to me and the portion was probably half of what it had been. The chicken was not crispy on the outside (like it had been in the past when we first started coming there) and there was very little buffalo sauce. The strange thing about this is the last time we went in the exact situation happened and the chicken had to be sent back. The last time they made fresh chicken, this time it tasted like it had been microwaved and sauce splashed on it. We are actually quite upset that we have had so many negative experiences here in the last few months because this really was our favourite local restaurant. We likely will not be back. Something has changed here and in my opinion if it isn't rectified they will lose other regular customers.

I sat in the sunroof area but was still warm thankfully as its -8c outside! And elderly regular came in and chatted up the waitress who was very friendly. I ordered mild wings and a coffee. The music was low key and thankfully the volume was low. The pub was very clean with many big screen TVs. I think Id like to come back for dinner or a sporting night! The wings were big and I ordered breaded. Good choice! They were super delicious and meaty. I appreciated the three wet-naps! (even with the three wet naps, I managed to leave the place with sauce on my face lol) I chose a single order and I could have eaten a double order. I'll definitely be coming here for wings again. $5 off wings on Thursdays and Sundays all day!! Yay! The service was so pleasant which made for a great lunch experience. So happy with this place. Highly recommend!! PS I still feel uncomfortable taking pics inside, but if you google images, that's pretty much it.

Upon entering the establishment shortly after 12am, I had to excuse myself to get past two patrons loitering on the front door steps inhibiting the entrance to get in. "Excuse me I said ", the one gentleman stepped aside saying sorry, no worries I replied to him. Apparently when I opened the door to enter my backpack brushed the other gentleman in the chest. Didn't actually realize until I was through the entrance, looked back as he was clearly overreacting to the incidental contact upon myself entering. I entered the restaurant, dropped my knapsack and went back to apologize to the gentleman. Words were specifically, " sorry my backpack bumped you went i entered, i think you kind of overreacted. " The other gentleman who actually moved when i excused myself passing them, got all indignant, belligerent, and agitated followed me into the restaurant looking for a confrontation. I actually unaware of this as it was unfolding was caughg off guard as my friends intervened what was going to be a physical altercation. It was actually, said gentleman was physical with my friend who was having my back, continued to be aggressivd. Not at all pleased with how the staff dealt with this. Total bs. I've been attending the Poacher establishment for close to 40 years. They just lost a huge amount of respect in my eyes.
