When I lost my job and needed money fast I was nervous to donate plasma but I had a good experience…read morehere. People are nice. Takes a few hours to onboard but after that the initial donation takes about 45 min, an hour if you're not hydrated enough. The more hydrated you are the quicker the process. You get more money the more you weigh so it's nice to finally be a big girl somewhere. Some people I've met say they feel bad afterward, I never have but I eat and drink water before and after. It's usually cold so wear jeans. Of course during the day it's not as busy as after five, but they literally stay open to clients up until 6:59pm so they pretty much expect people to show up until that time. You can go up to twice a week with one day in between. I don't recommend walking there or like exercising before hand because if your heart rate is too high they won't take you. But you do have the option to rest for 15 min to see if it goes down. They even have a bus stop right in front of the complex. If you donate enough to receive 600 or more those don need to be counted as income on your taxes so remember that. Great option if you want free money for having plasma. Can't donate if you have seizures, on certain medication or have recently lived with someone with hepatitis c.

I've been an Ochsner patient for quite some time now, probably well over 10 years and I have always…read morebeen pleased with the care I received. So when my little man was born naturally he was going to be part of the Ochsner family. Cue Ochsner Hospital for Children. I have been to this facility (which is located across from the main hospital on Jefferson Highway) several times over the last few years since my Ophthalmologist is also a pediatric doctor, so I was already familiar with the clinic location and parking. I like to make our wellness check up appointments for the earliest available time on a Monday, which hasn't been an issue as I make our appointments a month or two in advance. If by chance our regular pediatrician isn't available, it makes me feel better that someone in the practice can see him in the event of an emergency. They also have a 24 hour on call service which helps put a first time moms mind at ease knowing you can call at any hour to get advice. Thankfully I haven't had to utilize their services for anything other than a basic wellness check, but I feel 100% confident they can handle any situation that should arise with our little guy. Another pro is that Ochsner has several other pediatric locations (Metairie, River Ridge, etc) so you can easily switch over another to location and physician if you decide the main campus isn't for you. The only area I see for improvement is patient seating arrangements. I would really appreciate if they would create a separate area or waiting room for sick and/or well patients. It has been a terrible cold/flu season and considering I had a December baby, we had to go in for wellness checks on several different occasions in the peak of the season. I was a germophobe before I had a baby, and now that I have a little one my paranoia has only increased. It would have made me feel more comfortable to go to the doctor and know all the children sitting around us were well, instead of sitting across from children coughing- but we managed to get out of there without getting sick after all three visits. Other than the seating arrangements, I am extremely happy with the care Matthew has recieved at Ochsner. Everyone from the check-in staff to the nurses and physicians are all extremely kind and compassionate when it comes to caring for the littlest members of the family. I highly recommend visiting the physicians at Ochsner for your families basic or specialized pediatric needs.

Ochsner... Oh Ochsner... My how you've grown. By leaps & bounds. You're taking over hospitals &…read morebuilding neighborhood clinics. What's next... the world??? Well, well, well. Soooooo pre-katrina, the Ochsner "main campus" was but a mere consideration & most times NOT the choice of hospitals one decided upon... BUUUUTTTT NOOOOOW post-katrina, options are limited & Ochsner has a slight "monopoly" so to speak, in the world of New Orleans clinic/hospitals. So with that being the case, your choices are Ochsner or Ochsner or Ochsner, yeah. Post-Katrina, I have visited this facility more times than I care to mention, either with a relative or a friend. And this time is no different, I'm here with a relative. Review time: Entering the ER triage, we were immediately told to take the elevator to the 8th floor... No reference to which set of elevators... Guess me, my in active labor, aminotic sac ruptured preggo sis & her bestie have to figure it out... Ummm ok. Next we get to the area where she's "to be admitted" & no1 is there to greet us. Sooooo I pushed the "no admittance doors" and admitted, ha... Lol (classic me). So we fiiiind the nurse station... because there was no welcoming committee & then we're wheeled to yet another area. Upon arrival in the L&D triage area, "the correct place" (ER personnel sent us to the post delivery area, we needed pre delivery) we finally get some treatment & attention. She's admitted & we meet a myriad of people, some with great bedside manners & some not so great. Namely, Drs Moore, Pullman, Jordan & Super Nurses Brooke & Emma, ALL members of #teamoutstanding... and then the members of #teamNOTsogreat, well they shall remain nameless. I can honestly say the care, concern & patience shown to us by The L&D Staff, was phenomenal!!! If Alton Ochsner were alive, I'd give the ladies a shout-out & DEMAND a raise. The Ochsner monopoly, the find the elevators episode & the few not so nice L&D staff members, ehhhhh 3 stars it is. And only 3 because of L&D. A few other things to be noted: Southport cafe is all about healthy food choices Getting an appointment here is months out Navigating the hospital itself, is complex The whole Ochsner monopoly, I'm over it
