They are quick and efficient too. Generally out within under an hour. Consistent with a great variety of post blood giving snacks too. I think the staff here tends to rotate but they are all friendly and do a great job.

My iron was actually at a decent level to donate - yay! The gentleman who greeted me went through the usual tests (blood pressure, pulse, temperature) and the questionairre. He also gave me a free t-shirt and some coupons to local attractions. While these weren't expected or necessary, I gladly took them... after all, free is free! I was then shown to my seat. There is a tiny TV up against the wall, with the local news on to pass the time. The tech hooked me up and the 15-20 minute donation was a piece of cake. It wasn't until I stood up that I felt a little light headed and he helped me sit back down. Everyone was super helpful in making me feel 100% within a few minutes. This isn't a normal reaction to donating blood, so don't let me scare anyone off... just be sure to eat prior to donating, which is something I neglected to do besides a salad at lunch 5 hours beforehand. Despite my little "episode" post-donation, I'll certainly return in 8 weeks. The staff is exceptionally hospitable and care about what they do. I'm happy to finally be putting my O negative blood to good use, as I haven't really been keeping up with my regular donations since moving down here (used to donate to the Red Cross in Indiana). Also, no appointment required for a regular blood donation! Not sure if they require appointments for plasma and other donations.

This seemed to be the most appropriate place to write my review since I visited a blood mobile and…read morenot an actual blood donation location. The Blood Center did a blood drive at my apartment complex and I decided to sign up since it was super convenient. On the day of, I completed the pre-donation questions online and took a QR code to speed up the check in process. I selected the first appointment because I wanted to minimize any possible exposure to Covid 19. I arrived at 12:57pm for a 1pm appointment. They weren't ready for me so I hung around outside. When I finally entered the blood mobile (about 20 minutes later), it was tiny and it took them forever to check me in because the computer was so slow. After check-in, I was led to a tiny room (maybe 3 feet by 3 feet) to meet with one of the staff. I was uncomfortable because it's impossible to socially distance in a room that tiny. The computer in that room was slow too and I was in there approximately 20 minutes. The blood donation process was fairly efficient. When I finished, I was asked to sit at the front for 5-10 minutes to ensure there were no adverse reactions. I get it, but that was not desirable due to Covid. The lady tried to force me to eat a snack and drink some juice while waiting. I had to keep telling her no because I didn't want to take my mask off in that tiny space. Overall, The Blood Center needs to work on improving their Covid practices and upgrading their old and slow computer equipment. Some bonuses of giving blood here include getting your cholesterol level and also finding out whether you have Covid antibodies. I also got a cool Christmas themed t-shirt. I enjoy giving blood, but am not sure I'd donate here again.

Ochsner... Oh Ochsner... My how you've grown. By leaps & bounds. You're taking over hospitals &…read morebuilding neighborhood clinics. What's next... the world??? Well, well, well. Soooooo pre-katrina, the Ochsner "main campus" was but a mere consideration & most times NOT the choice of hospitals one decided upon... BUUUUTTTT NOOOOOW post-katrina, options are limited & Ochsner has a slight "monopoly" so to speak, in the world of New Orleans clinic/hospitals. So with that being the case, your choices are Ochsner or Ochsner or Ochsner, yeah. Post-Katrina, I have visited this facility more times than I care to mention, either with a relative or a friend. And this time is no different, I'm here with a relative. Review time: Entering the ER triage, we were immediately told to take the elevator to the 8th floor... No reference to which set of elevators... Guess me, my in active labor, aminotic sac ruptured preggo sis & her bestie have to figure it out... Ummm ok. Next we get to the area where she's "to be admitted" & no1 is there to greet us. Sooooo I pushed the "no admittance doors" and admitted, ha... Lol (classic me). So we fiiiind the nurse station... because there was no welcoming committee & then we're wheeled to yet another area. Upon arrival in the L&D triage area, "the correct place" (ER personnel sent us to the post delivery area, we needed pre delivery) we finally get some treatment & attention. She's admitted & we meet a myriad of people, some with great bedside manners & some not so great. Namely, Drs Moore, Pullman, Jordan & Super Nurses Brooke & Emma, ALL members of #teamoutstanding... and then the members of #teamNOTsogreat, well they shall remain nameless. I can honestly say the care, concern & patience shown to us by The L&D Staff, was phenomenal!!! If Alton Ochsner were alive, I'd give the ladies a shout-out & DEMAND a raise. The Ochsner monopoly, the find the elevators episode & the few not so nice L&D staff members, ehhhhh 3 stars it is. And only 3 because of L&D. A few other things to be noted: Southport cafe is all about healthy food choices Getting an appointment here is months out Navigating the hospital itself, is complex The whole Ochsner monopoly, I'm over it

I had torn a tendon in my hand and it was burning and hurting like crazy. 'It will get better on its own' was the only 'medical' advice they offered. Never again.
