I'm from CA and was surprised to see the employee was a young boy who probably wasn't in high school yet, wasn't sure he would've been old enough to work in CA. Visiting from CA and needed to beat the heat. Happened to drive by and see this hut in the grocery store parking lot. It seemed popular with the families and kids getting their ice. Cool benches and chalk for the kids. The really young boy working there Monday night around 8pm was very quiet. Overall very good shaved ice and flavor. He layers the flavor with scoops of shaved ice. Some of the ice slivers were little large compared to other places I've tried. Good price and flavor. It's not like it'll transport you back to the islands, but the shave ice serves you so well especially during those HOT Utah summer afternoons. They have suggested specialties/ "fan favorites" with pre-determined flavors if you are indecisive. I definitely was as their list of flavors is quite extensive. Wish they had more light and citrusy flavors, but I did settle for a really basic Strawberry syrup and something else. $2.50 for a small is not terrible, but really all you need. Their syrups are ultra sweet after all. If I had wanted, I could have added up to 3 flavors, but that did seem like overkill. Super friendly staff. So many flavor choices to choose from! If you can't narrow it down to 3 choices that sound good, you can pick from the favorites menu which does just that for you! The ice is shaved so that the syrup coats it nicely and doesn't melt off super quickly. I picked 3 of my favorite flavors (tigers blood, black cherry, and raspberry). I had flavor and syrup with every bite from start to finish. My wife got the pineapple upside down and she said the ice cream inside made it that much better. Only thing missing is a frequent flyer stamp card cause we will be back! read more

AWESOME SHAVED ICE! It is so finely ground up that it holds the flavor of the syrup, unlike others where the syrup runs right thru the ice to the bottom. The owner is new and was really nice! I think he isn't charging enough for his little delacacies (you can get a small, which is like a Styrofoam coffee cup size) for $1. A "small" is $1.50 and so forth with larger sizes. Mind you, I am NOT complaining about something being inexpensive! There are a LOT of flavors. In addition to regular flavors like cherry, lemon, lime, etc., there are all these cool mixes of flavors. I have been in the area for 2 days and have already been twice. This is a great little business and really cools you off in the 100-degree Utah heat. He is located in a cute little house right in the parking lot at the intersection of 500 and State Street. He's right near the recycle bins and the Sinclair gas station. Good little shaved ice place. I loved that they had sidewalk chalk for kids while they wait. They have a lot of flavors and some cool combinations.
