This review is based on events/weddings. Coming here as both a guest and as a wedding photographer, I can say with confidence this is one of my favorite wedding/event venues out there. First of all, it's gorgeous. Every inch of the building can be used as a backdrop to a picture, and even though I haven't personally played it, from what I've seen from the clubhouse, the golf course is in fantastic shape, too. The whole building mixes modern and classic sophistication, and you definitely feel luxurious being here. Their food is so good. I've had several meals here from the catering side of things and all of them were delicious. The filet I had tonight was the icing on the cake--definitely my favorite and so tender and flavorful. The staff are really the thing that shine here though. The wedding coordinator, Megan, is a boss and makes every detail of the day run super smoothly. She's also very attentive and helpful. Just one example, she made sure my dairy allergy was taken care of, something that usually doesn't happen at big events since it's such a little detail. That kind of care goes a long way for me and shows how much care is involved. The rest of the wait staff are all super friendly and helpful, too. Love when I get to come here, already excited for the next time!

This place is brand new. For those that don't know, the old country club was completely demolished and this architectural beauty was constructed. We are not currently members but we were invited to a dinner last night so I can comment on the food and service. Just a note of caution...the dinning/bar and club in general is for Members Only. The atmosphere is very sophisticated and upscale. From the person that greats you at the entrance to the furniture and layout of the bar. The bar area is constructed much like an upscale hotel lounge. They had a huge variety of beers on tap, mostly local which I loved. Beers from New Glarus, Ale Asylum, WBC, and more. They also have some nice bar snacks on the table so you can snack while drinking. Once we were seated, the menu selection is diverse and reaches to satisfy any palate. They have vegetarian options and are very flexible. In speaking with the GM, he was saying the menu and beer selections vary on a week to week basis. I tried the pear/nut/blue cheese salad which was probably one of the best salads I have tasted in my life. The combination of flavors and the crunch of the candied nuts (sorry its killing me, can't remember if it was almonds or walnuts...either way it was AWESOME) was spectacular. They also had this glaze of dressing that was so light yet flavorful....I could have eaten three bowls. Next we tried the mushroom ravioli. It was well done. You could tell the ravioli was fresh, with the pasta being slightly al dente and the sauce, peppers, and parmesan in the center was the perfect accompaniment. The dessert was interesting. I had a snickers pie which was good, but difficult to eat. Each time i tried to put my fork in it, it was so hard, the pie went flying across the table. My wife had a pistachio pastry thing, that looked very pretty, but was ok in flavor. Overall the revamped Beloit Country Club is a welcomed addition to the community. The space they have available for parties upstairs in the club can accommodate over 300 people. We did take a tour of the facility and are trying to find out rates so we could maybe use the pool and dine there since we don't play golf. The pool is huge and actually has a kids area with water structures and fountains/waterfalls. I do wish they had a workout area to justify the cost for non-golfers but the building is not 100% complete, so we will have to see what happens.

Our medium burgers were more than pink. The fries were good. Have been disappointed with recent quality.

Also, watch for the correct green on #1 - as you come down the fairway, you'll see #16's green straight ahead, a little to the right, while #1's green is off to the left a bit. Don't be fooled! The course is kept up nicely. I was there early this spring - even after rainfall - and the course was in great shape. The fairways weren't chewed up yet, and the greens were healthy and sleek. I had a small issue last time out - not with the course, however. My son and I had a foursome roll up behind us on the 9th tee with poor etiquette (playing their radio loudly at the tee box while we were trying to tee off, among other things). At the turn, the folks in the clubhouse asked how our round was going and I mentioned that group. We weren't bothered for the rest of the round, so they seem to have handled it. Based on that, as well as how we were treated when we arrived, I would say the staff are great! Very friendly and they care that you enjoy your round properly. I really wish this course were closer to home - it's about an hour drive for me. But if I find the right deal, it's worth the drive.

Being my first time here, I wasn't familiar with how things worked at this course, especially with their Toptracer setup and range boundaries. There wasn't clear signage to explain the rules or layout. Unfortunately, after hitting my balls, the owner himself came storming out and started aggressively yelling at me in front of other customers for apparently hitting balls past a certain perimeter -- something I had no idea was an issue. I tried to explain it was my first time there and that I was unaware of any restrictions, but instead of de-escalating, he continued to berate me. Things got even more unsettling when I went to my vehicle in the parking lot, only for the owner to follow me out, sit on the hood of my truck, and physically prevent me from leaving the property. It wasn't until the police that he called arrived, I was able to safely leave. I've never experienced anything like this in all my years of golfing at courses around the country. It was an incredibly unprofessional and uncomfortable situation, and I would strongly advise anyone -- especially visitors -- to be cautious if considering this course. At the very least, be aware that this business seems to lack proper communication and hospitality toward guests unfamiliar with their setup.

A couple of weeks ago they had booked a tee time to play four holes together, hoping to enjoy a quiet, casual outing with a golf cart on a nice day. When they arrived and went inside to pay, the owner immediately scolded them for scheduling a tee time for only four holes, claiming they took a spot away from a "full-paying customer." Instead of calmly explaining course policies or handling the situation with understanding -- especially given their ages -- the owner raised his voice and made them feel unwelcome. He then insisted they pay the full nine-hole fee, even though they were very clear about only wanting to play a few holes. It's incredibly disappointing to see a business treat guests this way, especially elderly customers just looking to enjoy a peaceful round of golf together. There's a right way to manage course operations, and this wasn't it. Customer service and basic kindness matter -- and unfortunately, that was lacking here.
