Martina was our tour guide for Tour M and she was engaging, knowledgeable, friendly and fun! She made the tour interesting and was happy to answer any and all questions. They offer a bunch of different tours which cover different topics/aspects "Underground Berlin". We chose Tour M because it focused on the history of the Berlin Wall which we were interested in knowing more about, but there are other tours available that focus on other aspects, such as bunkers, WWII, etc. Be sure to read through what's available before you schedule your tour to ensure that you're signed up for the topic that interests you most. My husband and I had very little knowledge of the Berlin Wall and the history behind it prior to this tour. We left feeling incredibly informed yet hunger for more knowledge! Martina recommended a few movies and documentaries to watch for more information about the wall and we fully intend to watch them when we get back home. Thanks for an interesting and enjoyable experience! Next time we're in Berlin, we'll come back to experience a different tour with you.

I was wearing shorts and a small long sleeve which really didn't make me feel comfortable because this place is seriously seriously cold. I asked the guide if it gets any hotter in the summer time and he says it stays this cool. So be warned bring a jacket when you come here because the whole tour is literally under the streets of Berlin! The guide we got was not from Germany but from another country and spoke English quite well. The place is filled with many cool things to see and also the glow in the dark room is pretty awesome. I didn't even know they invented that kind of thng so long ago! Very factual tour and with many photos and items that are from that time period. Yes we aren't allowed to take pictures soo they can keep all these items for the next generation! I'm glad I actually went to this place and got to listen to this tour. It is a little bit long but if you have time check this place out, I really loved it and you probably will if you want to see what would happen if the bunkers.

It's clear he loves his adopted hometown and was full of recommendations for things to explore on our own, and kept the tour moving at a good pace. It takes a great guide to make a great tour. I took two tours with Insider (Explore Berlin and…read moreThird Reich Berlin), and both were guided by Hannah. She is one of the best tour guides I've yet encountered and I've taken a hell of a lot of tours. She speaks very clearly (we're both native speakers of American English, so that helped as well), projects her voice well, and almost always speaks with clear intention. I never felt she was wasting our time with too much detail or circular talking; the pacing of the route and stops worked very well. She did a great job managing the group, making clear where we were going and where we should stand to see and hear everything while not blocking pedestrian traffic. She encouraged questions and made the experience interactive, which kept us fully engaged the whole time. At no point was I bored or wondering when the tour would end; in fact, I was surprised at the end of both tours that 3 hours had already flown by. Hannah did a great job of demonstrating the modern relevance of history and exploring the conflicting interests and biases of the people involved in historical events. A lot of this history is very heavy, particularly on the Third Reich tour, and she gave it all the gravity and respect it deserves. I highly recommend these tours, especially for history-lovers.

Driving a trabant in Berlin was on my husband's "cool shit I want to do" list* so we made it happen…read moreduring our recent trip. I think this combines some of the best parts of traveling for me--a super fun activity-based experience, learning a bit more about history and local people, places, and things, and great photo/video opps. A few tips: - Sunday morning was a great time to do this because the city was just starting to wake up, which meant we got to squeeze in more mileage than if we were dealing with more commute and tourist traffic. - Book ahead and arrive a bit early to allow time to use the restroom, practice the shifting, take some photos, etc. Checking-in was quick. - Don't plan to drive if you can't drive stick or if you are unsure about using a column shift (they do have a practice station and also walk you through it in the car) - If you are a tall human, don't expect to be comfortable in the car. The staff/tour guides here are fun. Even with lighter traffic and a small group, because we were the last of the three cars, we still got stuck behind at a couple lights. Our tour guide told us up front to not worry when this happened and he was very communicative (via a one-way radio) and would clearly tell us where he and the other car in our group were waiting. He also provided great commentary and information regarding what we were seeing during our journey. We also learned more about the cars, including personal/family experiences, from our tour guide later in our trip. About mid-way through we had a 5ish minute break, parked by the East Side Gallery (Berlin Wall). This allowed us to stretch our legs, switch drivers (if desired), and take some photos of the wall and the cars. Related to that, if you choose this adventure, be ready to be featured in a lot of people's photos/videos, as it is certainly a sight to see. I'm so glad we did this in Berlin! It is one of the memories that will definitely stick with us. *It isn't a bucket list because if he hasn't finished everything by the time he dies he expects family and friends to help him finish the list Weekend at Bernie's style.

This place is hard to miss, they have a chain link fence you can see what they have going on. Plus there was a giant ballon right next to this place screaming "come look at me". They do have some cars on the side walk for people to take pictures should they like. Unfortunately it was closed when I arrived and I was not able to visit the next day due to time restrains.

**STREET ART WORKSHOP & TOUR**…read more WHERE: Met at noon (plenty of time to grab breakfast beforehand) at Alexanderplatz TV TOWER next to entrance of Starbucks. However, the tour ends at the workshop in Lictenberg. DURATION: 3.5-4 hour tour and workshop. COST: 18 euros per person and can book online. PART 1 ======= Took the back streets and discovered some of the latest, greatest, and oldest examples of street art, graffiti and mural art. Our guide, a street artist/expert on the scene, showed us some of the best: - stencil art - throw ups - mural art - tagging - ad busting - heaven spots - burners; and - installations while teaching us who was who and their motivations behind their artwork. PART 2 ======= We then visited their workshop in a former abandoned margarine factory in Lictenberg we were instructed how to stencil and spray paint. Yes, we took our piece home as well. So much fun. PRO TIPS: - Make sure to tip your guide. - Purchase an AB transport ticket for this tour. HIGHLY RECOMMEND for those who like street art, graffiti, and history of Berlin.
