Most people have purchased at least an item or two here, maybe without even realizing it. It's a small convenience store on the third floor of the mall, right across from the OC Transpo sales and information centre. Because this centre is here, Gateway doesn't sell bus tickets, like most people think. They do, however, sell a whole bunch of things you need on the go, and for inexpensive prices, including gum, snacks, cold drinks, newspapers, smokes, lottery tickets, and even phone cards. It's more than conveniently located because it's right in front of the bus station, and it's also open later than mall hours. Be warned though - once the busy hours are over, the attendants like to blast techno music that can sometimes be heard all the way down to the elevators.

No. Do I even like beer? No. Am I a supportive wife? Yes. We like to do things together, so when he needs some beer brewing supplies, we go to Defalco's together. The store is well stocked. It pretty much has everything a home brewer would need. The warehouse section is dimly lit, but the place where you can brew your own beer (or make your own wine) is brightly lit. So if you don't want to buy all the equipment and just brew it there with their equipment, that's an option. The staff here is really knowledgeable and friendly. They will set you up with all the materials you need and then it's your job to use them use them, mix them, ferment them, and enjoy them. Don't be afraid of making your own drinks. I have screwed up in the past and made garbage but I've also made some decent drinks. Once you have the equipment, the cost of drinks will be cheaper than store bought. Wine is especially cheaper. Will you impress your sommelier friends? Not likely. Will you be proud of your creation everytime you drink some? I don't know but I am. Go there, ask questions, invest some money and time, and enjoy the fruits of your labour. Make a little hobby with a fun reward. I did and I don't regret it.

I wasn't able to pick up the exact ciders I wanted but I was able to find others I like. I was able to pick up all the 4 different types of beer my roommate wanted though. The lady working the cash was super friendly also, although it might have been nice if she asked me before stacking all 16 tall boys in one bag, it was a little heavy to carry and would have been nice if it was in two bags. Overall, the location has the basics of what you need but probably not some of the more specific things you might be looking to find. The staff is SUPER friendly though which totally makes up for not having the ciders I was looking for.
