The new Vintages section is meaningless, with cheap plonk mixed in with expensive bottles. The national sections are larger but the wines are stacked up to the ceiling and very tightly packed together. I am 5'5" and was afraid the bottles would come crashing down when I stood on tippy-toe while trying to reach the one I wanted. As it happened I grasped a similar-looking bottle and came home with a Pinot Grigio instead of an Orvieto Classico. I sincerely wish the LCBO would go back to large cabinet-style compartments for each bottle of wine instead of putting my safety in danger. Not everyone is six feet tall! I cannot comment on the new beer store as I never buy beer. On the plus side, the staff are friendly and there is ample parking but it is time for me to find another go-to for wine.

There's parking (not that I need it for my bike). It's conveniently located right on Queen, near a streetcar stop. But most importantly, it has the best selection of beer I've seen outside of the Summerhill LCBO. A large craft/micro section with many seasonals and rare brews you can't find at every LCBO. I went in two days in a row and found amazing things both days. Definitely the place to go in the area if you're a beer nerd like me.

I grew up in this neighbourhood and have a lot more details about what used to be here before this LCBO moved in than most who simply drop by for booze. What feels like eons ago, this building used to be a funeral home. My parents never liked that I walked by this funeral home going to and from elementary school for eight years of my life. They were and still are superstitious. It was the only funeral home in the neighbourhood. When it closed down, my parents seemed relieved! Pier 1 Imports, another blast from the past, took over this building afterwards. My mom refused to shop here because she knew that it was a funeral home. I came here to shop a few times and was never confronted by any evil spirit or something. Naturally, I didn't shop here with my mom! When Pier 1 Imports was no more, this store was vacant for the longest time. I believe that it was around 2018 when this LCBO was established. Most folks in this area welcomed it because the Beaches never had one. I've been here a handful of times. The cooler selection is decent. You can get cases or singles, both chilled or not. On Wednesday evening, I was stopped waiting for the traffic light to change. This store was still open ten minutes before 9 pm. I normally don't hit any LCBO at this hour, but it was nice that it was open. The only downside is parking. It's the Beaches and it can be difficult to find parking. It's street parking. I'd recommend parking on Bellefair Avenue or Waverley Road, as you can park for free. Parking on Queen Street East can be challenging and it is also paid parking. You can earn Aeroplan rewards when you shop at any LCBO. It used to have a partnership with Air Miles for many years. I guess that partnership ended and Aeroplan rewards has since taken over. It's a bright, welcoming store with a good selection of beer, spirits, coolers, and more. I like shopping here. It's perfect for locals. It can be a parking challenge if you're dropping by in a vehicle. (69)

So the store is just a little tiny hole in the wall, but they have something that you'll like. They won't have everything under the sun, as the Wine Rack chain does stick to Canadian wines. But they also carry some Canadian-International blends. I tried some South African-Canadian CabSauv Merlot that was really nice! They had a taste test the other day for some new chard. Nice touch!

What's good about this little store is as follows: a) the staff is super friendly b) on the friendly tip, the store is also dog friendly unlike the LCBO c) Dave - my dog, Eli's, bff when it comes to visiting this shop. Then there's the frequent free tastings if you are into trying before you're buying. Although it isn't a big store, they have quite a selection of wine available and their hours are longer than the LCBO too. Another bonus.
