We were looking for a place for a patio in Fort Saskatchewan because it was a gorgeous day out. We saw that The Bear's Den had one. Not exactly the most attractive patio or bar, but we wanted the sun. Our server was prompt and friendly and our food came out quickly after we ordered it. They have lots of beer on tap to choose from and a good cocktail list. Since we seemed to be the only ones at the place (on a Friday night) I was really nervous about the food. I really didn't need to be. I ordered the grilled salmon burger with fresh mango salsa Grilled salmon on a bed of fresh kale slaw. Topped with fresh mango salsa & honey lime spread on a brioche bun. It was absolutely delicious. The mango salsa worked really well with the grilled salmon. If you like fish, this is a dish for you. I had it with the Caesar salad, which was really well done. The deep fried pickles were a great touch. My husband ordered The Bear - a 9 oz. house made patty with cheddar cheese. He chose the fries, and was really satisfied with his meal. My only beef with this place was that it was and extra 3 bucks to substitute the fries with anything. I don't think this is appropriate or necessary. Even if you could substitute the fries with a garden salad (which many restaurants will do with no charge) or the soup of the day would be good. And then if you offered more expensive sides for an additional charge (ie sweet potato fries or onion rings) then you can slap on a charge. Or if you are charging more, why is it a whole three bucks? Couldn't you toss a salad at the same rate as you throw fries in the deep fryer? Still a great place. Too bad I don't like fries.

Small city vibes at this pub. I don't make it here often because, well, I live in Edmonton. It's worth the drive for me. The service is always top knotch! Everyone is just friendly! The snacks are where it is at. I really love to order a bunch of apps and just have a little of everything because there is just a bunch of really great options. The Chippers are good, but only ok. They are a nice to have, but not a must have.

It seemed like there was only one server on shift although there was a fair bit of staff moving about in the restaurant. Our server eventually arrived and took our drink orders while we decided on food choice. We all ordered pasta dishes and one was a gluten free option. Our server asked if it was a choice or allergy and wrote it down on her note pad. Which I thought was nice. When our food arrived the server asked my wife if she wanted more Alfredo sauce because it looked like her pasta was a bit dry, which happens with gluten free pastas. This was truly appreciated that not only we noticed but she did also. Great seeing staff going above expectations. I ordered the jambalaya fettuccine which was good for flavor and the portion was big. But I felt it needed more protein throughout. Could have been more spicy sausage in the dish or shrimp. I think there was maybe 3-4 shrimp in the whole dish. All in all it was a good meal and we would be back to try something else.

It's been one year since my last visit to Fort Sask location as I've moved so I was sad to find out they have cut back on the quality big time. I'm only complaining about the Boston lasagne !!

The chairs are pretty standard for a venue like this and the stage set up looks pretty versatile. I liked the fact that the restroom was for all genders. There was some great art on display and for purchase as well. While this neighborhood is not one I visit frequently, it is an easily transit accessible location and there was street parking available in the area (I understand this is pretty limited when there's an event going on at the Stadium however). The building looks well weathered but well used as a live music venue. Purchasing tickets in advance was easy and the associated website was good. I'd definitely go to another show here. There is good acoustics for the venue in general. Signage isn't great -- it would be better if the building had better identification.

From the outside it still looks like a house but it's a funky house, the window coverings are pretty iconic of The Aviary already! The cool thing is, now that it's finished I can really see how much work they have put into the place! The entrance way is more like a venue (and less like walking into a living room) it brings you round to the bar and where you pay cover etc, once properly inside the space has a nice bar the length of the room, a handful of tables and chairs, decent size stage at the back, local art displayed all round and awesome sound! The vibe is cosy, and there big emphasis on supporting local artists - I dig that. I like the beer listings on the wall - mostly craft beer and Phil knows a lot about them and recommended a really nice lager to me while I was there. I already love watching bands in this space and can't wait to go back.
