David, one of the barbers at this barbershop is actively LYING about his service as a United States Marine. During my haircut (the worst haircut in the history of haircuts btw), I asked him about being his service (indicated by his USMC hat and sticker on the counter) and he could not answer a single question about what he does, his MOS, and preceded to tell me he went to recruit training in New Hampshire. I am currently an active duty U.S. Marine. This stolen valor is despicable and unacceptable. read more

David sucks at cutting hair, I showed him a reference photo and he didn't follow the photo at all, he basically gave me a skin fade.The only good part of the entire establishment was the fact that they had a dog in there. 0/10 would not recommend, if you want a hair cut then go anywhere that isnt this sorry excuse of a barbershop. Holy moly. First time I came here about 2 years ago my cut was phenomenal even tho the lady cutting it wasn't officially a barber yet. And it didn't smell like cigs. Then this time I get David and he does an awful job. My fade is botched and haircut so uneven, he also did it in probably around 8 minutes total. When I had been waiting for over an hour. Second time around it smells like cigs, horrible cut, blasts terrible music, and probably drinking. What barber doesn't pick up the hair that they cut either, gross! 0/10 place read more

Can't recommend this place enough. Been going here for years, never been disappointed. Great atmosphere, great music, and a skilled staff that actually care about doing a good job. Great experience. Absolutely terrible haircut... the worst haircut I've ever gotten in my entire life. After the boy cutting my hair was done the other boy approached and said good job I see nothing wrong with that, I go home to find out my head looks so bad under closer inspection. Never go here save yourself the 25 bucks and go down the road. Just found this place and had my first haircut and bear trim there. Fantastic job on the cut and shave. More convenient than others in the area, where these guys take credit cards, and you don't have to pay to park. I wasn't quite clear on if the liquor/beer was for customers...or just the staff though. read more

The bearded man is the BEST place in the area to get a cut. Being a UNH alumni I've recently moved away from Durham, but still find myself driving up from Boston for my cuts. They greet you with warm smiles and cold beer. A quality of service + environment you can't get any other shop. Was just in 2/13/23 received a cut from a new to me stylist named Nicole. She was great, Very friendly and engaging. I didn't really know where I wanted to go with the style and she worked with me showing me a few examples, discussing the options based on my natural hair growth pattern. My girlfriend absolutely loved the results. Extra brownie points for me and I didn't do much! 5 star haircut would recommend Nicole to anyone looking for a new style. read more

Trash. The barber I had was David. It was made well known that he was intoxicated as he was cutting my hair. He fucked up my hair and my beard is uneven. They put product in both so I didn't realize it until later on. I just shaved my head. SHAVED IT!!! Don't waste your $! $75.00 down the fucking drain! read more

I have frequented the Bearded Man Barbershop in the past. Today I visited them again. I was sitting patently waiting my turn. As I sat there three patrons arrived after me. As did two more employees of the shop. Both employees called the men that came in after me. A gentleman mentioned that I was next, at this point I decided to leave. I can only venture a guess that my "Let's go Brandon " t-shirt was the reason? Never again will I visit the Bearded Man. I will be posting my video to the internet in the next few days. read more

The Short: Barbers who don't pay attention to their clients, blatantly unprofessional and unwelcoming behavior/language, and a haircut that's not at all what I asked for. The Long: Was told when I called that they're walk-in only; I waited briefly before being acknowledged. (Watched other potential customers leave after being left unaddressed after 15-20min.) The barber who took me didn't listen to the cut I explained (including "exactly what I have now, just shorter," and being I'm the son of a hairdresser I feel that I explained pretty clearly). He was about to do his first pass with clippers before even expressing that he understood my explanation - and evidently he didn't. He started giving me a fade - not what I asked for - which I thankfully noticed and called it out. All the barbers were paying more attention to the women's wrestling loudly on TV than to their clients in their chairs or waiting; this included lewd comments about the women's bodies and chats with each other about sexual encounters. Mine even turned my chair away from the mirror and towards the TV so he could watch - pausing and occasionally even turning off his clippers to stare at the TV - leaving me unable to see what he was doing to my head, and blindly asking for updates/check-ins. Of serious note: the frequency which "Nah, that s#*t's gay" came out of his mouth was appalling (and as a gay man, I was genuinely uncomfortable), and sadly reflects the staff's overall demeanor. When I was finally turned back to the mirror, I said directly that it was far shorter than I asked for. My barber replied that "finger length is the height of your finger off the head," which, yes, but I had asked for ~2", not finger length. He checked with me maybe twice over the whole 45min for the cut. Not to mention his detail clippers needing their blades realigned, as they painfully scratched my neck the whole time he used them, which when expressed my concern was dismissed. In finishing, my barber made the comment that if I were to be in his chair again, he would be sure to check in often so it didn't end up "shorter than expected" - with no acknowledgement of his not paying attention to what I had asked for. The end result is a cut significantly shorter than I asked for, a part-line at a far different angle than I came in with, and my now knowing to avoid this barber shop that feels in both staff behavior and customer treatment like a frat house living room. read more

A little on the pricey side but well worth it. Superb shave. Dave, the guy who did my hair and beard trim did a fantastic job. It was probably the closest shave I have gotten in years and he was completely thorough and had super attention to detail. If you need to get a cut and a beard trim for business or just looking sharp this is the place to go. A free drink while you wait if you want. Definitely the cleanest and sharpest cut I have had in a long time. read more

My son went there today and got the worst haircut. My daughter did a better job at home with no experience. The people working there were so rude. They don't follow any covid protocols, but they tell you they do when you call them. Won't ever go back. When they first opened it was good. read more

My buddy had gotten a haircut from here and it didn't turn out good. He was pretty sad at the beginning and was very self conscious. he still is trying to grow his hair out to this day. He hasn't gotten a haircut for awhile since this place. I really would recommend not going here. read more

This place is a great barber shop. Been there two times. I don't know either of their names, but the first barber I went to had a scaly cap and the second was a woman with a red star tattoo on her neck. Both extremely respectful, polite, and professional people. Both gave me a great haircut. They also serve beers and whiskey, which I thought was a nice touch. Overall, they are very polite people that give off good vibes and great haircuts! read more

Well Dave the barber did a good job he gets 5 stars.. but I don't smoke the place reeked of nicotine I don't drink but was offered a smutty there were bottlles of booze up front and loud music i guess that's the trend they think people want a bar room barber shop. Not for me but good for those who like that stufF I guess it's ok... they do good just not my style I'm not a bar room person which is what this is.. I hope they do good. read more
